To me you are a grub, not a worm. That's a totally different post far as I'm concerned. I have caught several trout on grubs.

All work, but fish slow, slow, slow. Weedless and wait 1-2 seconds to set the hook. JanR

Never had much faith in rubber worms Doryman until I cleaned a 3 lb bass my wife caught & found 8 - 9 rubber worms in it's stomach. (sent a photo of it in about a yr ago) From that time on have been using rubber worms with great success.

My use of rubber worms falls into 2 categories. The first is front hooked worms. The second is mid hooked worms.
Front hooked worms use worm hooks and sometimes nose weights. A worm is pitched and allowed to sink. A pull-and-pause retrieve causes the worm to rise and fall like a dying minnow. The fish sense an easy meal and suck it in.
The mid hooked worm, or wacky worm, has a length of line left from the hook with a sinker attached. The sinker goes to the bottom and the worm is suspended above it. No matter how still the line is held, the worm wiggles with even the slightest current or movement. This is a good option with your second line. This slow presentation is working while you use a more aggressive action with the other rod.

Sounds deadly. Makes me wonder why I’ve never used them. My youngest brother used them exclusively, though I don’t know his technique or favorite brands, colors, sizes, etc. I’ll have to wait until we meet up again in Heaven to find out. Funny story about how he fished - he always had a lean wallet, so instead of float tubing (which was out of his budget) on his favorite ponds/lakes, he’d straddle some of pool noodles. On the one hand kind of ingenious, on the other hand, a funny mental picture.

Senkos are what I gave the best results with. Wacky style is very popular now but I have caught many bass using a Carolina Rig, Texas Rig, and drop shot. Find the style you like best and have fun

Hey everybody. I could use advise regarding rubber worms. I’ve never used them, favoring other types of lures. I have a grandson turning 12 in August who has asked for rubber worms for his birthday. What brands do you favor, and why? We are located in southern Maine. Thanks for your help.

I'd buy the ones that are already pre-rigged (with hooks) at Walmart. I think they are called creme.
