Hey everybody. I could use advise regarding rubber worms. I’ve never used them, favoring other types of lures. I have a grandson turning 12 in August who has asked for rubber worms for his birthday. What brands do you favor, and why? We are located in southern Maine. Thanks for your help.

I've caught about 50% of all my Bass using a 4 or 5 inch black Gary Yamamoto worm with "O" ring, as a worm saver. Slide the "O" ring on and slide the hook through the "O" ring. When the fish hits, it usually knocks the worm up the line and swallows the hook. Simply unhook the fish slide the worm back down and you're ready to go. I call this my Jersey lure.

6 sense Lunker Logs are good, its basically a senko, I like senko because when they tear up you can cut off the good end and use them for ned rigs, saving money in the process.

I'm in mass just north of Boston, using fake worms as a lure realign in quite fast has resulted in many small mouth bass 1.5 to 2.5lbs and some trout.

This seems to be the growing year, stock every other year, so fish are not huge yet.

Here is my follow up regarding rubber worms. I received TONS of replies loaded with great suggestions and advice. THANK YOU ONE AND ALL! I took Gary H’s advice and took my grandson to our local Cabellas this morning to let him pick out worms he wanted, during which I provided further advice I had gotten from all of you regarding sizes, colors, brands, etc. I spent $33.00 with tax and he now has in his tackle box 5 pouches of a small variety, and a package each of 2 sizes of worm hooks. It’s a start. His 12th birthday is in mid August, but we got him these today to give him an extra month to use them. We got home, I made lunch of fish and chips with store bought haddock, then we went fishing. He brought to hand a LM bass of maybe a pound. If I can figure out how to get the photo from my phone to my ipad, then on to this forum, I’ll post it. Please don’t hold your breath. Thanks again, all.

Great it all worked out. Hope you figure how to transfer - if not ask the 12 year old he will know and look at you like you are dumb for not knowing how. 🤣😂

I get the look all the time when asking grandkids how do you do this on the phone - I get the ‘ well duh’ look.

My 14 YO Granddaughter does all that stuff in a heartbeat. SO far she doesn't give me the look, she just does it for Grampa and smiles. Love that kid.
