Feeling gratitude today

Doing these estimates on a (roughly) weekly basis, the
airfares have gone up slightly
over the last two months, but some of the motel and car rental rates have jumped ! Most of the motels have increased up to
$150 more for my 5-night stay,
although a couple have
remained close to the same
price; car rental rates have also increased - two months ago,
a mid-sized or full-sized car was about $300 (w/ ins.), now it's nearly $400, or a smaller car for the same price !
DON'T LIKE small cars or imports; I'd prefer a mid- or full-sized car (Ford Fusion or Chevy Impala/ Malibu) ! I can still swing it, but may have to cut back on some frills (like certain restaurant
meals) to do so ! (C'est la vie !)

Just a word or two today as I start my 66th year on the planet.

First, I'm grateful for all my FS compatriots who have been there for me on this site. You've advised me, prayed for me, encouraged me, made me laugh and cry and inspired me.

And I've never met any of you. Yet. I made a decision today that I will attend the Meet & Greet in KS next May. Not sure if I will fly or drive. Hoping to buy a newer car before then if I need to drive.

I feel like I need to meet you guys and gals. It's too important not to put a username with a face.

Here is something else to consider about flying. My son in law had to fly one way from Jacksonville, Fl to Tennessee. He found that he could fly coach for $150, but he would have to pay extra for carry on and each other piece of baggage. It was going to be close to $300 for him. My daughter got him a first class ticket for $250, and add ones cost nothing, not to mention the comfort.

Thanks DBEd. We will probably rent a car after we land so the wife go spend money in Lawrence. I appreciate your offer along with the others.

Some, I guess ! Quite a few famous people were born in March also, such as these
actors (and at least one famous musician);
Chuck Norris/Bruce Willis/Daniel Craig/Kurt Russell/Eric Clapton

Also some famous historical figures (short lists for both);
Albert Einstein/Johann
Sebastian Bach/Alexander Graham Bell/Harry Houdini/
Andrew Lloyd Webber

Some shared my birthday;
Daniel Craig (latest Bond)
Jon Bon Jovi
Gates McFadden (Dr. Crusher/
Star Trek -TNG)
Pope Pius XII
Mikhail Gorbachev

It's really nice to be in
such good company !
