She is still stranded, the Cairo airport is closed to commercial traffic. Thanks for asking.....😃

Can she fly out of another country to the U.S? Just a thought. Not sure what other countries are doing air travel wise to here. Seems like she could talk to embassy help. I had a client get help to leave Spain when the virus broke in Europe a few months ago.

Thanks John. Straw Plains is a small rural area about 20-25 minutes north of Knoxville. We are about 20 minutes east of Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area which is very busy now that they opened up The Smoky Mountains National Park.

Yes. Also, since most of my life was in WI, the Packers, Badgers and Brewers.

Are you a Roll Tide or Auburn Tigers' fan? Both are strong programs.

Thanks E.pa.al. I think we would like to fly if possible but I'll drive it if need be. I think TN is a bit out of your way. I wouldn't mind meeting you at Gettysburg sometime. Another trip I really want to make.

A lot of folks I want to meet too, including you.

Good choice. Bear's paper boy. Was he a good tipper? UT has a long way to go to get to the program Saban has built but I think Pruitt will do a good job if they give him time.

ghaynes,
Yes he was a very good tipper. Back then you went door to door once a month to collect for the paper., usually the first Monday of the month. He was rarely there & I collected my money from Mrs. Mary Harmon Bryant. They always remembered me on my birthday & Christmas. If y’all will indulge me I have a true short story about him. I went to collect one month & he was there resting in his Lazy Boy. I was probably around 14 & weighed about 90-100 lbs. he asked Mrs. Mary Harmon to send me into the den. I was scared to death, I eased up next to him & he felt of one of my calf muscles & said “boy are about ready to come out ?”

Just a word or two today as I start my 66th year on the planet.

First, I'm grateful for all my FS compatriots who have been there for me on this site. You've advised me, prayed for me, encouraged me, made me laugh and cry and inspired me.

And I've never met any of you. Yet. I made a decision today that I will attend the Meet & Greet in KS next May. Not sure if I will fly or drive. Hoping to buy a newer car before then if I need to drive.

I feel like I need to meet you guys and gals. It's too important not to put a username with a face.

No problem ! You've already seen
my ugly mug if you've ever zoomed in on my avatar, only
they do get blurry !

Here are some figures to
consider in the drive-vs.-fly
debate;
Airfare (5-hr. average per flight)
8:40 AM to 12:48 PM (Sat.depart)
1:37PM to 7:50 PM (Tues.return)
$175 per person/$350 for two

11:39 AM to 3:32 PM (depart)
w/same return- $176-(1)/$352-(2)

Driving: 12 hours each way !
(Depending on your gas mileage)
@15 mpg - $250 (max./est.)
@20 mpg - $170 ( " / " )
@24 mpg - $150 ( " / " )
Based on maximum gas prices
(averaged out) and car mileage
estimates !

You will have friends there so a car rental may not be necessary, as you've already had ride
offers ! If you're in the same
motel (Days Inn on Iowa St./best rates) or one nearby, you can ride to the Park with me (or whomever you choose to ride with) !

Just something to work with
for your comparisons !
Again, Happy Birthday ! And
good luck planning your trip !

Thanks again Big A. I'd rather not drive if we can afford the airfare. The rates you gave for flying are reasonable if they stay that way closer to next May.
