I personally haven't had a issue with the rod and reel not matching color wise, just my opinion. I an more interested in the "Balance and Functionality" of the rod and reel when paired them up. I normally match my Shimano Rods and Reels together as well as with Diawa Rods with Daiwa reels. I have G-Loomis Rods that have both Shimano and Diawa reels on them. Just my personal preference because some times I have bought the rod or reel and later matched them up.

I like my gear to match. If a car that looks like garbage but runs well costs the same as a beautiful car that runs well I’m gonna buy the pretty car.

That's not really a choice; everyone is going to pick the good-looking car if they're both in the same price range. How about a car that looks like garbage but runs well or a beautiful car that runs like garbage, in the same price range? In other words, do you prefer form over function or vice-versa?

Well, it's said that the colors of lures attract more fishermen than fish, seems that quite a few of you take that all the way up to the rod and reel. Do you match your hat with your jacket, as well ? Kinda hard to find waders in complimentary colors, on a day that you chose "Blue" as your theme, isn't it ? And we all thought the mirrors on the truck were for observing traffic while driving..... obviously not so !
LMAO !!!!!!...
"GQ goes Angling....Are you pairing your accessories with your mood ?...Does a clashing color palette influence the bite?.... How to make waders flatter your figure !..... answers to all these in the latest issue... GET IT NOW !!!

Fishing is fishing, not a fashion show. I’ve seen the affluent newby all decked out with expensive gear get skunked. Meanwhile, some old guy with a cobbled together a mixture of gear accumulated over the years catches all the fish. What’s more important, looking good or catching fish?

The very reason I can "look well-dressed for the sport", is there are so many folks here in Oregon that "take up the sport", and then lose interest after getting all decked out in REI, Columbia, Patagonia, etc. Goodwill is my go-to for fishing apparel, thanks to their (wannabes) lack of commitment for anything other than "dressing the part". An $80 shirt is , maybe, $7.99, a pair of zip-off-leg pants...$9.99...a Grundens polarfleece jacket for $15.99......(now then....WHAT did they do with the Sage and GLoomis rods, they got talked into buying, dammit ?!)
Fashionista Fisherman..??!!?? ...is it really "a thing" ?? Do we care ?? LOL.

No not really. As long as the baitcaster has a baitcaster pole and a spinning reel has a spinning rod. Of course with the proper action pole

I ask this question with rod & reel selection almost the only thing in mind. When I buy a rod or reel, I NEED the other piece of equipment to match or at the very least not clash with the look of the rod/reel. Like for example, if I have a Mojo Yak rod (Purple), I can't have a reel like the 13 Origin TX reel (Sea-foam Green). That's an extreme example but you get the point. I was curious as to how much a look of uniformity matters to others.

That's why most all my fishin and huntin apparel are CAMO. If I'm outdoors doin either, I usually wear camo. When someone ask me, "I thought you were goin fishin not huntin." I always tell them "I'm huntin fish."

It’s usually always the fisherman. I’m sorry you are no more sexy than I. But that explains the empty creek.

¿Form over function, or function over form? Don't forget: "If you wanna be happy the rest of your life..." If you can manage to get a highly functional, BUTT-UGLY (I mean, your rod-n-reel forces other people to turn away in disgust); but, YOU manage to put plenty of fish on ice; all the better.
It might even be where you last put it, the next time you wanna go fishing.

Codyjames & others,
I’m really terribly color blind so I don’t give a whit what it looks like to me. I have orange, white , black , & yellow rods of good quality. I simply put a particular reel , spinning or bait caster, on it & go !!! Works for me !!! My fishing partners never give me grief about it , but if they did I couldn’t care less. The fish certainly don’t seem to care. Tight Lines !!!
