I second that ! You prolly don't ever eat anything that you drop on the floor either. I don't think you should ever go fishin again, just to be on the safe side.

I recently got a fishing pole, reel, and hit the water to begin my adventure. I was given a chatter bait by a gentleman who sold me the pole. Today while I was out fishing, I stabbed or hooked myself with the chatter bait and it drew blood. What should I do or can I catch anything? Please help and give me some advice since my paranoia is eating away at me.

It's always a good idea to keep a first aid kit in your car. But I also keep a tube of Neosporin in a sealed baggie with Band-Aids and a small bottle of hand sanitizer.

Make sure your Tetanus shot is up to date and don't worry unless it gets infected

Did it stab you anything like this? This one had a fish still attached to it and I'm still living. I've done this more times than I can count.

You need to quit fishing and take up bowling. Mike

Hey Ivey, if that has happened more than ONCE, you need to for sure be usein barbless hooks. Just sayin.

Man I've figured out a very simple way to get them out, Push down hard on the eye wrap string around bend of hook and a slight tug they pop right out. It's all about disengaging the barb and they're no problem at all. took longer to get the fish off and he was pissed. Saw this on a Bill Dance show years ago and it's worked for me every time. Honestly I think it's been about 4 in my life but two were this year. I have used this method on several other people with hooks in them and it's never failed. Check out the video.

I know the method, but for you, barbless might be the easier and less painful way to go.

I understand. I'm just rassin you. I don't use barbless either. But I haven't buried 4 hooks in my body parts yet either. If I had, I might keep a bottle of Jack on hand to deaden the pain. On the other hand, that might be part of the problem to begin with. :)

You know I really thought 4 hooks in 40 years was pretty good considering how many I've stuck in them. This last one I told one of my buddies I caught one about 200 pounds. He didn't believe me but I had the pic.
