You're right guys. So sorry for the misinformation. My bad.
Sorry Steve, I'll try not to make that mistake again.
Hope you are OK and are catchin some big ones.
PM me sometime, would love to hear from you. Have a Merry Christmas.

Anyone been to Lake Amador. Thinking about going there. Researching says they often stock the lake and have trophy size trout . 2 hr drive for me but if I have a chance on landing a trophy size trout Iām fine with the drive. Also they plans lightning trout too. Any tips, info would be appreciated to help me decide to go or not. Thx in advance
Hi. I fished Amador many years ago and they do stock some nice fish there (see photo of "cut bows").
Caught one on a crawler/power bait combo, two on a 1/3 oz Little Cleo spoon, and the last on a sz 8 olive Wooly Bugger fly. They charge for both parking and fishing. Don't know the current rates. Good luck.

Yep, have never liked PAY lakes. Gotta PAY for everything.
Get a license/permit to fish, pay to launch, pay to park and SOME even make you pay to take your boat OUT.
SO, I usually just stick to where the launch is free OR, at least affordable and NO other charges.
There's plenty of those places around me.

Thx for the info, yeah most of the lakes now a days charge for parking n a fishing fee. Checked Amador is 10$ for parking n I think 10$ for fish permit. Donāt mine the fish permit as it helps pay for the fish stocking. Parking is daily unless ur camping. Hopefully Iāll get lucky n catch a trophy size to make the feeās worthwhile

Yes, $20 for senior off the bank, boat launch will be extra $7.
I fished there after Thanksgiving on bank, no luck. Didn't see anyone hookup.
Neighbor trolled there Friday, 1 fish about 2.5 lbs. Trolling lanes are tight since Water is down about 20+ feet.
If trolling there submerged islands that will pop up quickly on N.E. end. Rapalas and speedy shiners. Fire tiger pattern. bring extra. Lead core line or down riggers 10- 15 feet later in morning.
Bank fishing I like to walk in about a mile but plenty of shore near dam. That's where they plant them.
You will catch mixed bag. Lightning, cutbow, blue and rainbow. Typical is about 2 lbs and up.
night crawlers or power bait also like to throw a kastmaster early. i will start going more in January - April.
Good Luck!!

PNW. If you're shore fishing, a good spot is across the dam opposite side of the check-in store. You can park above in a turn-out and walk a short distance down the slope to the shore. That corner is usually pretty good. I have a two-rod license so I throw in some bait on one and cast around with lures and flys on the other. They would also probably bite a small jig under a bobber. Thanks for your posts on Hat Creek and Baum Lake. Went up in the fall and caught numerous small stockers on flys and lost a big one due to 4# test leader and a snag.
Hey thx guys for the info. I also have a 2 pole license n start my day the same way. Bait on 1 pole n lures on 2nd. Then switch up if neither is getting bites. I have a fair stock of baits n lures that Iāve had success with so it takes longer to give up if I do lol.
Yeah Hat creek/Baum lake is a real fun place to go n thereās always a good chance of hooking a picture worthy fish.
Sucks to lose the big ones, Iāve been there n done that.
Not sure when but I get up there Iāll send a report hopefully with some fish pics. Thx !!
I have fished this lake a few times in the past in November and January with cousins who live in the area. They do stock it very well with trout with their hatchery just below the dam. We caught a lot of beautiful cutbows on chartreuse glitter power bait. The key is these fish stay in the upper part of the water column. I only caught cutbows with power bait suspended using a clear bubble and small split to suspend the bait. Sliding sinker rig was unsuccessful with power bait. The other option is using a clear bubble with an olive Wooly bugger trailer about 3 feet back. I caught my largest cutbow there with this rig. The cutbows were quite active on the surface in the early morning hours. For location off shore we caught our fish between the corner of the dam and the marina. We also saw other fishermen on the shoreline having the best success in this area.
Good luck PNW and please tell us how you do.

Thx man, Iāve never tried suspending a floating bait. Iāll give it a try. If the fish hang towards the surface I would think lures might get some bites too or jigs. Itās fun trying to figure out how to get em to bite. Thx again
Yeah, they plant some monsters there. I was lucky one time and landed a 20lb rainbow that is the lake record !! I was trolling top water with Rapala. Shore fishing is solid with powerbait.. weekends are busy so if you can do the weekday. Get there early best bite !!!
Cheers
