I bought a lifetime in the 90's combo wasn't cheap but even if I move out of state I can still hunt and fish.

Got my youngest son his when he turned 16 that is the gift that keeps on giving.

Just does not cover lake permits or waterfowl stamps or deer tags.

I am going to attempt to make a 6' steel rod, but I am going to have to practice that before I get it right I am sure. Have to have temper just right hand correct and I guarantee that is going to be a challenge to do but only at first.

Hey Eastern, one of these rainy days turn on the TV or even google it. I believe the history channel has something I think is called forging wars. They make some really neat stuff on there and the knives would be well worth it.

I have an old steel rod I got at a garage sale (I think). I had never seen one. Are they common and what are they used for? Maybe catfish??

My Dad had one with a baitcaster and used it for catfishing.

Yeah, that makes sense. As heavy as it is, you wouldn’t want to cast with it all day unless you were training for the olympics or somethin’. LOL

I always had to buy an extra stamp where the main fishing is not trout,

You can buy a lifetime license at any age. I don't do it because I am 78 years old already.
I think a lifetime is about $350.00 in California
