Yes, the lake is beautiful, remote & peaceful - a hard combination to sometimes find in Jersey.

Correct, no launch or ramp. Have to carry your BB & gear in along a wooded trail ~100 yards long.
Lonely? Never, when you are with a good friend & surrounded by God’s creations, also helps when the fish cooperate & go after the fly you’ve tied on!

Mickey, Lonely was just a word to indicate no party boats or jet skis breaking up the goose honks and rustling of the trees & stuff. Looks like paradise to me. Can't imagine getting circled by a jet-ski if I wuz in a BB, but that would necessitate HOOKING the driver, and not with fly gear, with a baitcaster holding 20 lb. test, and a big a$z Daredevil. Ooops, thought I saw a big Pike over there. Could cut the line following my "mistake".

Gotcha nutz4! We’re never lonely while casting & cranking!

Knot shore I’d wanna waste a Daredevil on an idiot with no respect…

Understood nutz, but I’ve learned over the years that some battles are not worth the aggravation.
Sage wisdom is now overriding the knee-jerk responses- I ask & thank God every day for his guidance in that decision making process. It’s been quite the learning curve for me.
On the other hand, I did have my first ejection in game 39 last week while umpiring a Middle School semifinal softball 🥎 game. It was a grandpa!
But that’s a story for another thread!

God Bless!

With all the umpiring this spring (41 games since April), my good friend & fishing buddy Larry and I took a day off for a hike up into a small lake in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
We had a pretty good morning fly fishing out of our Belly Boats. No Lunkers, but twenty-nine, 10-12” rainbows kept us busy on our 4 wts with 5x tippet.
We had the pond to ourselves with only a few hikers & dog walkers along the shoreline. A long overdue & relaxing 😎 morning!

Just Curious. Belly Boats? Float Tube? U Boats? Is Belly Boat the U Tube type float tube? How did you come to Belly Boat? If that is what you call them.

In over thirty years of Belly-Boating and just two float tubes, never had a leak while afloat. The UV rays do damage the outer canvas shell & seams but never had an (inner-tube) air bladder leak. I always wear my PFD. I've flipped it over once (setting the hook on a topwater LMB), but easily kicked my fins to get ashore.

Don't knock it until you've tried it Barnacles!
Great "aqua-therapy" for my old legs & cardio for my ticker!

Be Nice to Barnacles he may deploy all the blow dart tribes in the woods.

I have fished a bunch on U Boat and inflatable pontoon one man type framed fishing rig. It is fun I just don't use enormous treble hooks when on them.

Plop plop fizz fizz oh how this thing likes to make bubbles. Rubber Rafts work well.

A few snakes & lots of snapping turtles later in the season when I’m “wet-floating” without the flyweight waders. They pretty much leave you alone. The worst are the Beavers 🦫, very territorial and are not too happy when you are in their area! The stealthy critters swim under the surface & loudly slap their paddle tail on the water - scared the CRAP outta me!!!

I might want to check out those “diver fins” - any kind you can recommend bapa?

He is absolutely correct. Diver fins need probably 1/3 as much muscle to get same propulsion. Long more efficient fins give you way more control.

I wouldn't appreciate a powerboat doing that either but if you really aggravate a jerk what do you think will happen? That boater could probably pop your inner tube watercraft. Feed you to the gators. The right thing to do is avoid conflict in the first place. I see so many people that enjoy conflict but never accept responsibility for their own actions. It is a sad situation.

Yes. Belly Boat is the Jersey red-necked vernacular.

Muscle I have - knot looking to do any trolling in the BB.
The longer fins will actually be a detriment while getting in and launching from uneven shoreline. Always need to be aware of surroundings while safely walking backwards in my BB fins - the shorter ones are challenging enough.

OK. You asked. Father's Day is near. The sky is the limit when it comes to dive gear or fishing gear. Bear is spot on though. A buddy of mine turned me onto the idea. I have a few sets of the fins but the diver type work much better with less effort.

Belly Boat must of come from young lazy days with belly down in a Black Automotive or Truck inner tube. Fins on the feet and dog paddle with hands for propulsion. Careful with the Grappling and big treble hooks.

We wear the fins on a rope while hiking. Can stuff them in a back pack or tie them off to the boat. I have a small pontoon type boat with frame that has oars. Then with the fins can quit steering and using the oars.

Just stay safe and have fun UMP.

Between u 2. He is simply saying he prefers safer boats is my guess and trying to crack you up. I prefer a Rubber raft if going to remote water but those float tubes work well.

I loved the Beaver Splash statement. Funny for everyone but the recipient. Beavers are warning their own of danger. Your the target by them. They will get nasty up close with that u boat...belly or no belly Ump.
