Fredfish I have to give you the credit for your answer because I was not specific in my question.
I should have asked what ii the established world record.
Yes the Great White you mentioned is the largest fish ever caught on rod and reel, however it was caught using a illegally killed whale as chum, and therefore disqualified.
The correct Guinness Book of World Records goes to Alfred Dean who in 1959 cought a Great White Shark off the coast of Australia weighing 2664 pounds.
Today's question what is the Guinness book of World Records smallest fish ever caught on rod and reel? The answer includes what species of fish, it's overall length and most importantly its weight.
Have fun 😀

I have no clue on this one. We have guys here that have caught shiners (minnows) by the mouth, on lures.

I'm going to guess something new, Maine. Maybe oysters, crab, and lobster technically count?

So, does that mean Guinness only recognizes IGFA records?

I'm going to have to modify my last question ❓ It appears that many of us, myself included, have cought smaller fish than the one that is listed at 2.4 inches. So the modified question is? What species was it and more importantly what was its weight.
I guess when we catch a minnow weight it. You may have just caught yourself a world 🌎 record.

We had a little fish contest a while back. There were some tiny ones.

To set this record, does it have to be hook caught intentionally, snagged, can we cast a net from a rod and reel? I'm half-tempted to try this.

All the ones we compared last time were hooked in the mouth.

Aww, I wanted to cheat, lololol. Time to get an ultra light rig. It's overdue anyway.

I'm still get to buy a new rig, right? I mean, I KNOW I can win that.
