For todays answer I had to look at several sources to confirm that this is actually a fish. Fish and Wildlife web sites confirmed that the Sea Lamprey is indeed in the Great Lakes. It feeds exclusively on the blood and body fluids of other fish. This parasite is considered a fish and has been dubbed the Vampire of the Waterways.
Today's question ❓ has to deal with 🦈 sharks.
The Bull Shake can survive in freshwater. It has been known to enter the Mississippi Delta. How far North has a confirmed sighting of the Bull Shark been recorded?
Bonus points for the city as well as the state

Thanks Commander. This is a very tough one.
I'm going with a Black Marlin, 2,150 lbs, maybe in the early '60s, and either Zane Gray or Earnest Hemingway.

👍👍

Why do you do this Sir?

sorry have no idea what you are referring to I think what I said was a sound analysis of the demographic make up of hawaii and how it applied to the question asked and as it turned out my reasoning was born out in the correct answer. I was not being political or negative.

Congratulations Fredfish,
You were very close. The actual answer is Alton Illinois about 24 miles N of St Louis.
Today's question ❓ comes in three parts.
The first, what species of fish is the largest ever caught on rod and reel? The second part.what year was it caught and thirdly what was was it's weight. Bonus question ❓ Who cought it?
This is a very difficult trivia question today and many will be tempted to look it up. Please resist the temptation to do so.

You know what DC, I wasn't even thinking of sharks.
It's gotta be Frank Mundus's Great White, 3,400+ lbs. He was the inspiration for Quint in Jaws. I've seen his boat, Cricket II, in Montauk harbor. I believe Don Braddick was on the rod for that fish, which was caught in the mid '80s. The mount of the fish was on tour for years at boat and fishing shows around the country.

Yeah Maxx, it was huge. I saw the mount on a trailer, up in Hartford at either the Boat show, or Fishing Expo. I think it was in the late '90s - early 2000s, back when the Hartford shows were actually in Hartford.

Fredfish I have to give you the credit for your answer because I was not specific in my question.
I should have asked what ii the established world record.
Yes the Great White you mentioned is the largest fish ever caught on rod and reel, however it was caught using a illegally killed whale as chum, and therefore disqualified.
The correct Guinness Book of World Records goes to Alfred Dean who in 1959 cought a Great White Shark off the coast of Australia weighing 2664 pounds.
Today's question what is the Guinness book of World Records smallest fish ever caught on rod and reel? The answer includes what species of fish, it's overall length and most importantly its weight.
Have fun 😀
