Good to know that Cabela’s stood by the warranty the only right thing to do.🎣🇺🇸😎👍

"Lifetime Warranty".... what other marketing ploy (phrase) is more subjective and certainly abused ?

Whose "lifetime" anyway ?
.....The buyer's ? (So do manufacturers hope their clientele is nearing retirement age ?....lol)
.....The product's ?(most assuredly randomly subjective....and I have been told that "it lasted as long as 'its life' was projected to be"(!?..say whaaat ?), when seeking to get a garden tool replacement)
.....The seller's life ? (If they continue to scam us... might be much shorter than they anticipated.... hehehe)

Personally, I just wish that manufacturers and retailers would not only stand behind their products, but cease making ANYTHING that could be categorized as "planned obsolescence products". (Even lightbulbs have finally evolved their lifespan to "near reasonability", thanks to LED tech)
I know that I sound like an old fogey who is "harkening back to the good ol' days", but I hardly purchase anything over $50 these days without thoroughly checking out the source through MANY reviews from sources OTHER THAN THE SELLER'S WEBSITE, or actual owners. Even called a craigslist seller recently about the electric bike he had for sale, to ask about its shortcomings, if any, before I purchased the updated version. I confessed that I was not likely to buy his bike (size issues), but would appreciate an honest assessment, which he gladly gave....thanks Dave !
Not sure why we as a nation put up with so many inferior goods in the search to save a few bucks, only to have to find a subsequent replacement, sooner than logic would deem necessary. (See the John Ruskin quote on the wall of any Baskin-Robbins ice cream store)
Also not sure why we CONTINUE to believe in and do business with companies that seem to have no scruples nor 'pride in product'. I certainly don't, and hope you will join me in boycotting any business that you know for certain has been unscrupulous.... it's the only weapon we have against such "bullies".

Just my 2¢ worth on so-called "lifetime warranties".

AMEN, Fix!
(We finally agree on something! 🤣🥴👍)
As a retired business owner, I KNOW how important a good, solid, airtight guarantee is to customers, if you want to stay in business. I was “in business” for 39 years before I retired. The last 20 +/- I even stopped advertising in the phone book and kept plenty busy just with repeat customers and referrals from them. I could have expanded by hiring more employees, but was afraid of reduction in quality without time to properly supervise all the jobs. I never had more than 7-8 at any one time. (and that was enough headaches for me. 🤕😫😂)

7-8 could easily equate to 70-80 headaches a day if they worked 10 hr days. Every hour could be a headache. Hopefully they were all good Employees so a possible few headaches a day or week were more likely. Haven't even rose the headache factor on the good ol buddy network that could easily get you into some serious Migraine territory (:

MOST of my employees, over 39 years, were pretty good - some were VERY good - one guy didn’t show back up after lunch on his FIRST day! He dropped an “f-bomb”, at the top of his lungs INSIDE a customer’s house that morning, and I (calmly) explained to him that “we don’t talk like that around our customers”.
He left at noon for lunch and that was the last I saw of him! Never even called for his 1/2 day pay! But, yeah, most were good, hard-working guys/girls who enjoyed their jobs and REALLY liked their cash bonuses (profit sharing), Christmas bonus, and birthday off, WITH PAY. It’s amazing how much money motivates an employee!
The “stat” I’m the happiest about is, I only had to fire one guy in the entire 39 years… 👍

You and I come from the same mold Randy. I was just short of 29 years of the being in business for myself while working another profession. Not much on the headache scale, just run down on the trying to keep afloat. And you are so right about no need to advertise when the customer base was the source for advertising as well.

On the topic of lifetime warranties i want to give MOEN faucets and accessories a shout out. Myself, customers and neighbors have purchased their product for that sole purpose of the warranty. Say what you want about the other big name companies, but 2 to 4 days later the part was at the door free of charge. In one memory i recall a complete faucet was delivered because of tarnishing.

My plumber used mostly Delta, but also Kohler if a customer requested them or wanted a particular style that Delta didn’t have. I have Deltas in my house and have only replaced a couple of them in 36 years. They are less expensive than Kohler but we have been satisfied with them. I don’t really know how they compare to Moen, but I’m not a plumber. The plumbing contractor we used all the time, liked Delta, and we always got good service from them, so we just stuck with them.

A buddy of mine (and I) each bought a pair of the Cabela’s name brand Intensity 12x50 HD binoculars a few years ago. They were very impressive, and for about $230, not too painful on the wallet. Mine are fine, but my buddy’s pair does not do the ONE THING they are supposed to do, focus!
We were told they had a no questions asked, lifetime warranty. That was good enough for me as they were about half the price of the Vortex model we compared them to. Boom…sold!

He noticed the issue as he was deer hunting, of course!
Tom called Customer Service and was told this is a wear part, therefore NOT covered. CS told him if it was a manufacturer defect or a design flaw they would be covered. In my opinion, if a single-purpose item such as a spotting scope or set of binoculars does not perform…I believe it is certainly one or the other and Cabela’s should stand behind them. I advised him to not accept their response and to take it to the next level. Am I wrong?
