Just thinking! I’m with u on preferring catching the stripers

Thinkin I might try to get out Striper fishin next Tuesday. We had to postpone our Tahoe trip on account of all the snow they're getting. We'll try to go up next Wednesday or so maybe.

I suppose. If you wanted to catch a Sturgeon. I would just as soon catch Stripers.
But if we hooked a Sturgeon I reckon it would be a fun fight.

Hey Saw a little change up is good sometimes

True, but I wouldn't keep a Sturgeon and we sometimes keep Stripers. Plus they are GREAT fighters.

I understand the fighting part. I just have never caught a Sturgeon so figure it would be fun at least once

Those rod holders are great for bait fishing. They allow the rod to move freely up and down and side to side and detect the slightest bite from the fish. They also make it real easy to remove the rod to set the hook while not spooking the fish. We set rod in the holder on free spool with the clicker on allowing the fish to pick up the bait and run with it before setting the hook. I don’t remember who the manufacturer is but we bought them years ago at Rio Vista bait and tackle. They still have them, saw them there the other day. They are best holders we have ever used for stripers. As far as mounting them goes you need to place them in a position where the rod can move freely up and down and side to side. I don’t recommend mounting them on the side gunnel. We made our own pedestals to mount them. As far as colder temps goes, yes it can get tougher finding the fish to bite, but like u said, they still need to eat. That’s why I think bait fishing is ones best option in winter. Hope this info helps. What type of boat do u have?

My fancy Eckley Pier inspired rod holder.

Thanks guys. Saw 100% on that my friend, it is like getting a straight across trade. I traded a red wagon for a Lamborgini. Pretty sure I'm free Tuesday. Where you headed?
Mr. Still Water... up North where I normally Striper fish there are days when pile worms outfish everything else. Do they work well in the Delta? Can you even get them in the Winter? They are seasonal up here.

Long time no see... it would be nice to fish with you a few times before you move. If you have an open seat, or I can bring my boat and tag along, or we can make plans together. I'm up for anything.
