My name is Tiffany and my dad, Keith, used to send me words of wisdom from this site every week. Everyone who contributed to this community had a huge impact on my dad. He would laugh and laugh at your stories and always shared the best ones with my brother, Kevin, and I.

He passed away unexpectedly last night and I just felt like I had to make sure this community knew how much laughter your posts brought my family and I.

Thank you all. Next time you cast a line, or drink some rum, raise a glass to my dad!

With love, Tiffany

I don’t think he ever posted, unfortunately. He had many incredible stories to tell of his trips fishing in Canada and on Lake Michigan that I wish he had shared with you all. My favorite included a run-in with a bear, a log cabin bar, a Packers game that went south…and maybe 1 too many rum & cokes. Ha!

He just turned 75, and I am about to turn 32 in 2 weeks. It is particularly tough when it’s a parent.

I think one of you may have posted this, I just found it again saved in his pictures. He wanted this included in his obituary:

Tiffany that's so true n so well composed. Your dad n I had the rum n coke thing in common. I can see he left many beautiful memories 😇

What seems like a long time ago when Jesus hit me over the head and woke me up, one of the teachers I was listening to said, “ Be careful how you live your life, you may be the only page of the Gospel someone else gets to read.” It is a comfort to learn you may have had a good effect on someone else’s life even without knowing it. I’ve said it before and will again. All you guys and gals are an amazing group of people. I am grateful for each of you.

To: J, Fred, Wulffy …..
What you guys are saying is so true! That’s exactly why I post many of my posts - not only intended for the one I’m responding to, but just as important, those out there that might be just “listening”. For the past three years, my prayer has been that I could have a positive effect (spiritually) on as many people as possible. This seems to be confirmation that ALL of us here on FS are having a positive impact on others across our country. I know y’all have certainly encouraged and influenced me in many ways the past few years! Thank you and keep it up… 👍🙏🏻

Reading all your messages makes me kind of feel like he’s still here. Like I’m surrounded by a bunch of my Dad.

We live in the Chicagoland area, just south of the Wisconsin-Illinois border. We used to go trolling on Lake Michigan every year, but if I’m being honest I can’t remember what we’d always fish for. I just loved being on the boat with him. This is him and my brother, Kevin.

He was happiest surrounded by family or on the water. And he had a laugh and a smile that would light up the room the second he walked in.

Gone Fishin

I've finished life's chores assigned to me
So put me on a boat headed out to sea.
Please send along my fishin pole
for I've been invited to the fishin hole.
Where every day is a day to fish,
to fill your heart with every wish.
Don't worry, or feel sad for me,
I'm fishin with the Master of the sea.
We will miss each other for awhile,
But you will come and bring your smile.
That won't be long you will see,
Till we're together you and me.
To all those that think of me,
Be happy as I go out to sea.
If others wonder why I'm missin
Just tell em I've gone fishin.

I don't know who wrote this, but I really like it.
That's how I want people to think of my after I'm gone... Saw1.
Very touching indeed. br Here's another one, poem,... (show quote)

Saw1, thank you for sending this. It brought tears and smiles to all of us and will be used on his prayer card. This is exactly what he would have wanted.

Tiffany,
Thanks so much for sharing the pics of your dad! He seems like my kinda guy despite the Steelers hat😂🤣😂

All kidding aside if your dad has talked about the stage I know he’s mentioned Saw! I bet he’ll be honored that he contributed to his prayer card. I know I would be.

Continued prayers for you and yours,
Jason
