Right up there with agree to disagree. Just think back to those high school days when we were taught how to debate an issue. College days seemed to radicalizing debating and a good back and forth seems to be a lost art.

not sure what you mean Sinker. if the opposing view is communicated in a non attack way I think the one posting it is welcome here that doesn't mean their view will be agreed with or not challenged. you and I have disagreed over issues but I always welcome your input. I actually enjoy the back and forth with someone I disagree with as long as it is issue based and not personal attacks which I think was the point being made here. we can disagree, and debate but still be civil and respectful. life would be a bit boring if we all agreed on every thing
We are divided on so many issues (now that's an understatement). Social media formats, including FS, is a microcosm of our world & permit these divisions to widen, leading to a revolving door of censorship & cancellation by those who "hold the power" at the moment.
True discourse of opinions without one side getting offended is unfortunately rare and can be full of unseen potholes. Adding courtesy & respect to the conversation is a way to map out this journey, without (road)rage by steering clear of known roadblocks & pave a smoother road to a positive destination. Sometimes you'll have to bite your tongue & take a detour to get where you want to go.
Mickey's advice? Open one's eyes & ears, take a breath, pause and pray before reacting, then become part of the solution - easy to say, hard to do. Be thankful for the ability to acknowledge differing views (we never really know where one is truly coming from), our life experiences are as different as a salmon and a bluegill.
This Thanksgiving, Mickey is going to lighten up, find some humor in every situation and realize you are not going to win every battle - life is too short - our (mental & physical) health will thank us.
Here's a smile for those with differing views - even Dan & Jane shook hands after this spirited debate!

well said I would just add honest and civil discussions can often help heal the division by making us aware that often we agree more than we think we do even on issues that decide us so deeply

Jar, in the 3 1/2 years Iβve been part of this forum no one has ever set out to have anyone else removed. There have been people whom admin has blocked but to my knowledge admin is solely responsible for those decisions. Itβs his website.

Well, we had our differences, and areas of agreement as well, and I regret any part I may have had in his banishment, if any. Something may have happened behind the scenes that we know nothing of. I never saw this coming, did anyone ?
