You can’t argue they’re contemplating it. “Any semi-automatic rifle that is capable of accepting a magazine” pretty much defines any rifle most of us have. Including the old semi-auto 22 Grampa gave us 50 years ago. In all of my years alive I’ve never seen or heard this sort of thing until just recently either so sit back, watch and be prepared.

The Remington Model 700 loads from the top... Completely INTERNAL magazine... Works like a charm. Iron sights/ "see-through" scope mounts = best of both worlds.

I’m glad it worked that way in Texas. It had the opposite result in Oregon but I’ll bet the laws over it were different. A few of my buddies got concealed carry permits there and they wish they wouldn’t have. Everything is attached to the license plate on a vehicle there so people with a concealed carry permit are considered armed and dangerous in Oregon. My buddies wife, who doe NOT have a concealed carry permit can’t even drive his pickup very comfortably there. She was pulled over on her way to the grocery store, three cop cars showed up after she was followed for quite a ways, she was confronted by two officers at gun point and instructed to “GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE”. She did as instructed, her vehicle was searched and she was asked where her weapon was. She didn’t have a weapon and was pulled over for a faulty break light. She told us she though she was going to die and didn’t even know she had done anything wrong. The officers explained to here the vehicle is registered as a weapons carrier and they can’t be too careful anymore. They apologized to her, wrote her a repair order citation and let her go. Everybody is on edge there because they just figure everyone has a gun and there’s so many whacked out people there they’re afraid of being shot at any given moment where I lived. I carried a gun openly there as I do here. Here it’s for wolves. There it was for, two legged, coyotes.

thats a sad story, cat
dont know but doubt they did that when i lived in tx...never got a permit for my guns

I had a Remington 700 in 300 Win Magnum when I was in Africa. Sweet weapon, but kicked like a mule. My buddy Ox loved it, so I sold it to him and we did a little trade for his Colt 357. Ox was quite a bit bigger than me, except for his hands, which he claimed never fit that Colt and he h**ed to shoot it.

Yeah, "a good fit" is important... My brother had given me a set of walnut grips for my Model 69/(¿10?) S&W, .38 Spc, SOLID STAINLESS (¡MAN, do I miss that weapon!) {Sold it to "a Buddy"; 20-ish years ago.} ... The grips were WAY TOO FAT for me, and I'm not exactly a Dwarf... I reinstalled the "factory grips"... My Model 700 was chambered in.30-.06 Springfield and is another one, that I miss having around. I'm near getting "in the market for" a heavy cal. lever action Marlin or something with a comfortable "grip" on the shoulder stock/ a pair of (NOT necessarily concealable) revolvers running the same ammo... Maybe 1 or 2 × "pocket- rockets" (Derringers); all 4 or 5 guns, using the same rounds.

They've made it just damn near impossible to buy ammunition in California unless you play their silly games. I bought a Ruger 40 cal about 20 years ago and 10 boxes of ammunition. I don't shoot it much, but I was down to my last 20 rounds or so, so I dropped by the gun shop to pick some up. Local gun shop here in Lincoln because everywhere I had looked was totally out. Ask the guy if he had any 40 ammo. Yes he did. Can I get a couple of boxes? No you can't. Turns out the state now "registers" your weapon when you buy it. So if you bought your weapon before they started doing that (which I did) and your gun isn't "registered", you can't buy ammo. So now you got to go thru the process of "registering" it in order to feed it. It's not called a registration, I forget the term they use. And if you have one that's registered, you can buy ammo for any of the rest, or basically wh**ever you want and as much as you want (or can get). Easiest thing to do is just buy a new gun - the process is automatic when you do. I'm wondering if the gun manufacturers had any hand in getting that written into law?

I doubt the gun manufacturers had anything to do with it. Since the courts are upholding the 2ed our weasel politicians have a new tactic since they can't limit and restrict guns like they would like to they are limiting, restricting and in some cases banning the gun accessories and ammunition which so far the courts haven't come down on since they technically are still allowing the right to have arms, but of course having a gun does you no good with out ammo.

I don't think it's legal to ship ammunition to individuals. Don't know much about it but I don't think so.

Well like I said, here in California you can buy all the ammo you can get your hands on, no restrictions on the amount, and as long as the state has a record that you've purchased a firearm of any kind other than a shotgun in the past 10 years or so, you can purchase any caliber you can get hold of also. The way that law is written, it encourages people to go buy a new weapon, so they can easily purchase ammunition. Sounds a little shady to me.

So... If it's "in the budget"; go buy yourself the least expensive.40 cal. you can find (¿Perhaps a Derringer?)
I remember shopping for 1, about 20 or so years ago and they WERE available, up to .44 or .45, I think. NOT overly expensive, at that point in time. (I mean, a "REAL-Live Throw Away" quality of a peashooter.)

I bought a Taurus .38 special for about 350 bucks. It was the least expensive handgun I could find that could still be considered a gun. And now I can buy ammo with no hassle.

¡Muy Bien!... My Dear Ol' Ma's last gun, was a Taurus.38... she was "OK with it"; but, she SURE was missing her S&W!! (She could STILL hit anything she fired at, ... ¡¡From the HIP!! (She always figured: "Ya ain't gonna have time, to get scientific about it...") She also had a Brownie.25 auto, for many years, that she also "shot from the hip"! (Pretty much hit what she was shooting at!) {Now, that's MY DEFINITION of "Gun Control"!}
