Ben, sorry for your loss.
I grew up on that lake. Pretty shallow but there are places a Lil deeper. Uncle George would take me there and we slayed crappie every trip. Mostly minners under a bobber. He taught me how to jig fish there too.
We also caught bass, pike, and gils. Don't recall any walleyes or sauger being caught. So luck to ya on those.
Cousins and I catfish it alot. Had good blues and hefty channels surrendered to our catfish Charley blood bait.
On a sad note, one of my brothers succumbed to drowning there when we were kids. All good. That was 48 yrs ago.
Good luck and enjoy the new to you cabin.

Buried my father in law on Feb 6
Only my wife’s step mom and her brother remain.
Anyway, wife’s great grandfather built a place on Lake Loramie about 1:15 minutes north of me.
He built this right on the water in a choice spot . About 75 years ago. The lake is 1655 acre lake.
3 years ago her dad had the place completely remodeled . Had a new concrete dock with a lift and just last year traded his pontoon for a brand new one.
Engine break in not even done.
I’m gonna help with the upkeep to help mother in law out.
So I have a new lake to learn. It’s a legendary crappie lake and the bass and saugeye are supposed to be fantastic.
Fished it before but not seriously.
I love a new challenge , and with the new job, I’ll have time to do it .

Good luck with the upkeep and good luck with the fishing....My 2cents
Ben: take an old man fishing with you one day. I’m 80 in April, love to fish, and my son in law just moved to Boise Idaho so there went my fishing from a boat. I’m wintering in Florida and will return to New Carlisle Ohio 14 April, I’d love to do some crappie fishing any day you might need a partner to fish with. (dbright1@aol.com—-239 220 4894)
