Went to school with a girl named Samantha. She still goes by Sam. Guess you can just never tell until you see them or they tell you
"Forgot" about my Brother's daughter Sam. Never once called her Samantha since she was an infant years ago. Do not ever think of her as anything but Sam.
Also, although I never called her this, my Mom's nickname was Mac. From maiden name McCarthy. That sometimes created a funny bit of confusion for some, like when she got paged that way once and responded.
Another one, had an aquaintance a guy named Shirley, understand that may not be so rare, but was the only time I ever heard of it. Reminded me of a funny line in one of Airplane films.
Seeing that we can believe the all knowing internet. The name can go either way. Actually a pic of Tristan Thompson comes up on researching it. Male basketball player for Chicago.
Well, Fred knows a female Tristan, so what do I know ?
My Dad's best friend was a big burley guy named Carroll.
And as Maxx pointed out......my ex-wife and I had a blast showing a VHS tape of "Airplane !" to her dad "S.L."......whose given name was Shirley Lee ! His father was "Shirley Bryce" !! My exFIL thought that line "and don't call me..." was hilarious and said "where was Leslie Nielsen when I was a kid , huh ?" And there's another "either way" name.... Leslie.
Of course the most prominent (and cause for questions, after the movie) "either" name for me was always "Ashley", as in Ashely Wilkes in "Gone With the Wind". I remember giggling in the movie house that played "oldies", that my Grandmother had taken us to, and got pinched on the arm by her & told to "shush now, I'll explain later". She knew that I had a crush on a little girl in my class named Ashley !
Well Tristan, sorry we stole your thread to discuss your name rather than your fishing questions, but it happens. Here on the forum, get used to the thread "straying" from its original topic, again, sorry.
I looked up your Lake Brydenburgh and it appears to be only 6' deep, so not sure what fishing opportunities might be, this time of year.
Good luck, & welcome to the forum of easily distracted folks !

The well written post by a 11 year old threw me off Gordon. Not used to that with my 11 year old.

When FIL was a kid, Nielsen was probably a kid too . He was a matinee idol/ leading man type in lots of old films mostly B&W in the late 40's thru the 50's or so. Good dramatic actor and a really handsome guy .
I stream lots of old movies, and see him often.

Hello everyone, I’m Tristan I’m 11 yes old and I love everything fishing. My Grandpa takes me whenever we can. We mostly fished saltwater until I wanted to try fresh water and streams. I have my own poles for salt and freshwater. Being new to freshwater what is some good spinner bait, popper style and jigs. How do you enter Blydenburg lake and when is a good time to go? Thank you for your expertise and any help.
Welcome TristanB. I’m sure you will find some helpful advice here to add to what your Grandpa is teaching you. Lots of good ideas and experience here on the stage. Good luck and keep after it. 👍🎣🎣🎣
Tristan: The Fisherman Magazine has a Long Island edition which in turn has a freshwater section. I'm fairly certain you can access it on line. Good luck in the sweet water.

Especially in these past few decades. But back in our day Bills, bob, mikes, sue and jane were the standards from my recall.
Good luck! The best part about fishing at your age is you can go pretty much anywhere and not get yelled at.
