Unfortunately, my casts sometimes suffer from too much LOFT - I get a new lure or fly on, try to squeeze it
into a a quiet pocket or corner, and
the wind takes it right into the schrubbery ! Gets really annoying
(and sometimes expensive) when
you lose two or three new lures on
an outing without really knowing
how well they might have worked !

It’s the Murphy’s Law of fishing…the more expensive the lure, the worse the cast is going to be when you are just trying to lay it into the perfect spot 😂

Man, you know that's right ! As you probably know Murphy's Law -"Anything that can go wrong usually will, and at the worst possible moment !", you may also know the 'extension' to Murphy's Law as well -
"The chances of dropping your
bread buttered-side-down is directly proportional to the price of your carpet !"

Pretty much the same thing can be said about fishing lures - "The more expensive the lure, the greater the chances of losing it on a bad cast
or a snag !"

Exactly, I was going to try to use the bread analogy, but I got interrupted 👍🏻😂👍🏻

I can still see the frog lure hanging in the tree that my Son lost 7-8 years ago on an embarrassingly bad cast…and can still visualize my favorite Scatter Rap that I tried to add just a few extra feet of line to a precise cast to a spot that I KNEW held a new PB largemouth for me. A little extra wrist snap and “doink “ was the second last thing I heard as the new Seaguar fluoro line snapped and gently laid on the water as the lure rocketed toward the trees. The actual last thing I heard was the lure crashing into the woods, well beyond my target…🤦🏼‍♂️

Pretty sure Murphy was a fisherman, too!

Not quite your scenario OJ, but while reading your post i saw a few Z man lures take off in my mind. First thought: Wow what a cast. Second thought Oh Sh** lost another one.

Same principle Bob. 😂

I found my golf game to be more peaceful once I accepted the mindset that i didn’t OWN that golf ball I just dumped into the pond, or launched into the woods…I like to think I just RENTED it 😉
Perhaps I should develop the same attitude toward my lures?🤔

Between skiing and golf miss them as much as i do sitting here waiting for warmer weather to go fishing. The back aid no more golf and the legs said no more skiing.

When the body says no more fishing, the good Lord might as well bring me home.

I tried skiing…decided I have enough expensive hobbies including golf, fishing and hunting. Been investing in maintaining or replacing body parts over the last few years so I can hunt and golf as long as I can. I will continue those as long as the back will let me. Am hoping to fish beyond those, of course. Time will tell…
