This âstoryâ was shared almost 45,000 âmembersâ ago and deserves to be shared again. The history involved a golf pro who was struggling with one of his students. The student had spent months under the proâs tutelage, hundreds of hours on the driving range and thousands of dollars in lessons. There was no sign of improvement in any aspect of the manâs game.
The pro was frustrated as the man showed up for his next lessonâŠswung and missed at the ballâŠshanked the next one into the woods, etc. Finally the pro approached him and they talked about how they worked tirelessly at the manâs grip, his stance, his alignment, his takeaway, his wrist cock, the downswing and his follow through with no improvementâŠ
The student then asked what was next?
After watching the man skull another one along the ground the pro offered they need to work on his loft. The man said okay as he whiffed at another one. Dripping with sweat, he asked âWhat do you meanâŠmy loft?â
The pro responded it was his L.O.F.T. or Lack Of FâŠing Talent! đ€Ș
This has more uses in my life than I should admit, but often comes up on those days when I get skunked while fishingâŠI just accept that it just comes back to my loft đ

Sorry Bob, I shared this one a long time ago, but I must have buried it in a response, rather than on a separate post. My bad! There have been a few well placed references to LOFT since I shared it. đ

Being as this is a Golf post and itâs a fishing site. I really need to share a true story. I still laugh until I cry thinking back in it.
Yahoo and loft are great abbreviations I just learned. Thank you for sharing them.
I was in Central Oregon at Sunriver with my immediate family as well as my parents and my nephew etc. I had brought an 8 ft Livingston Dingy.
My nephew and I had decided to go from Sunriver Campground on Little Deschuttes to the Deschuttes. We did shuttle etc.
We launched and just relaxed we could see what looked like bass on the bottom maybe German Browns on bottom of little D river. No fishing gear on this first run.
The little D flows through the edge of a Golf course. The river is way down low compared to the ground level of the course and golfers. Whenever we saw golfers I would make a very loud noise that sounded identical to a golf ball being hit. I popped my tongue off the roof of my mouth. Then we would shout FORE. Usually the people would not be able to see us because we were so low and could barely duck to avoid being seen including the boat.
The people would sometimes hit the ground. Others hold hands over head. Few would yell things in a scared voice.
All I know is it was flat out hilarious to us. We didnât have to talk to anyone at the course later etc because I know if anyone found out who it was they would of 86 us forever.
I still can see the people dropping to grass etc. I really am not sure some ever realized we were on the little river.

You may want to be careful with that one as not all golfers have a sense of humor đ
You really donât want anyone hitting a golf ball in your direction. âŠthey hurt (I got hit in the hand last season) I share this from experience.

I know OJ. Thatâs why we were so stealth about it. But we never even had anyone look at us. We could barely see any of their hats etc in the distance. I agree some donât have any sense of humor. I think itâs a negative thing when people canât laugh about anything. Some take way to much in this little stop on earth too seriously. If going on a golf course is strictly to beat everyone else or show off fancy this and fancy that while never even smiling how is it enjoyed.
I have golfed a bit. Pitch and putt was more enjoyable to me. Big cigars etc. life is too short to do things one loves and not smile.
Your exactly right though OJ. You also wonât see me golfing. Many fishermen and boaters are the same. More concerned with how fancy everything looks to others than how effective their skills and equipment including classic boat is.
