This “story” was shared almost 45,000 “members” ago and deserves to be shared again. The history involved a golf pro who was struggling with one of his students. The student had spent months under the pro’s tutelage, hundreds of hours on the driving range and thousands of dollars in lessons. There was no sign of improvement in any aspect of the man’s game.
The pro was frustrated as the man showed up for his next lesson…swung and missed at the ball…shanked the next one into the woods, etc. Finally the pro approached him and they talked about how they worked tirelessly at the man’s grip, his stance, his alignment, his takeaway, his wrist cock, the downswing and his follow through with no improvement…
The student then asked what was next?
After watching the man skull another one along the ground the pro offered they need to work on his loft. The man said okay as he whiffed at another one. Dripping with sweat, he asked “What do you mean…my loft?”
The pro responded it was his L.O.F.T. or Lack Of F…ing Talent! 🤪
This has more uses in my life than I should admit, but often comes up on those days when I get skunked while fishing…I just accept that it just comes back to my loft 😂

You certainly have that right, some of us have too much LOFT and therefore should seek other activities! Just Sayin...RJS

I thought that the pro was going to suggest he limit his use to just one single club for all golf swings..a sand wedge for everything!

I thought he was going to tell him to take up fishing. You could be off a little on you cast and still catch a fish.

I run my company golf outing (have been for 22 years) and I have quite a diverse bunch which I have to get around the course safely, in a reasonable amount of time, etc. I want them to have fun and behave themselves, as well as be respectful of the course and each other. We have had up to 144 players of all abilities out there.
I have a few who complain and I tell them if they buy me a drink, I will pretend to listen 😂
If they continue to cause problems I suggest they adopt the T.I.FT. rule.
Tennis Is Fun, Too! OR, if they don’t like that, they have just volunteered to run the outing in the future…that usually ends the conversation. 😉

Wow...that would be a huge commitment. When a player participates in an outing, they rarely appreciate all the hard work that goes in to the planning, and making the event come off without a hitch...and that everybody has a fun time! Hat's off to you for taking on that responsibility OJ!

When I first saw your topic and started reading I thought this was a post about me. I spent about two years trying to improve my game to the point where I could have some confidence that I could at the very least strike the ball solidly and not kill anyone. Never got there. I do not golf.

Thanks, I took it over from a friend who ran it for 25 years. He did a great job, but he did consecutive tee times, so it was a 15 hour day. I changed a few things based on outings in which I have participated in or others I have run. We now have a shotgun start and the event is over in about 6 hours including lunch and prizes. My biggest problem is the Boss (CEO) wants me to move it every year 🤦🏼‍♂️

Awesome!
My old Boss adopted what they call the “Entertainment Shot”. If a shot is so bad the entire foursome laughs…it doesn’t count, or there is no penalty 🤪

Reminds me of my military days. This private was working on something and really messing it up. The company commander came around and watched the guy for a few minutes then said. "Private you're doing a terrible job, however you're doing it slowly."

Oj,I witness bad golf every day all day.
We usually have 40 - 50 outings here a year, believe it or not the worst ones are the local PD & volunteer FF
They manage to destroy golf carts every year😀
Too much🍺🍺
