I put out a text to the family the other night to see if any of them wanted to go ice fishing on Saturday. My son in law replied that my daughter would go. I asked why he wouldn’t go too, but he said he’d stay home with the kids so she could go. He’s been out with me before but my daughter hadn’t. She works every other Saturday and I guess we’ve always gone when she had to work. None of the boys could, or wanted to go. I asked the daughters in law that had been out with us before if they wanted to make it a Dad and the girls trip. One daughter in law said she’d go so it looked like it was the three of us. Friday night my one son that had said he couldn’t go said he might be coming. When I asked him about the plans that had him not able to go, he said his wife didn’t want him to be gone all day Saturday, but since she was going with me he thought he could come.
So the four of us headed out as early as I could get them to agree to go. We followed a storm to the lake. We weren’t ever in the storm, but the roads were a mess all the way there. The “parking lot” was covered with a bunch of fresh snow and we pretty much snagged the last spot to park.
Where we parked was up above the lake. There’s a pretty steep hill to come down that had at least a couple feet of snow we had to walk through. It was a bit of work getting down to the lake and the snow was over the tops of our boots, so that kind of sucked.
We set up the tent and settled in. My daughter in law caught two nice fish and I got one. My son and my daughter didn’t catch any, but we had a great time. We were pretty much at the same spot we went to right after Christmas, but there weren’t near as many fish yesterday. We pretty much caught all we saw on the fish finders.
I got a new six man tent getting ready to take a bunch of teenaged boys and some leaders out later this month. We tried it out yesterday. It was nice to have the extra room. As always, it was a great day for me to do the two things I love the most, spending time with family and fishing.

Stuck, great post, thank you. I’ve spent 40 great fishing years in Utah before relocating to Tennessee. I looked forward every year to fish that hard water. Only lost one rig thru the ice and that was at rock port reservoir. What body of water you at, looks like East canyon? Those were the days.

We were actually at Scofield. I may try East Canyon real soon. I've never fished it through the ice, but I'd like to give it a try.
