Yeah that's kind of a unique place, but one of my favorites. It's accessed by a dirt road but nobody ever goes there. I've been going there for about 20 years or so, at least once a year, and in that time I've seen one other person and he was in a canoe across the lake from me. I've never spoken to a single person up there. Come on to California and I'll take you with me. Some nice trout in there.

Might have to take you up on that one of these days it sort of like th places I go but I have to bring a machete with me to hack trough the overgrowth to get in th water to cast I'm sure their are many places like that in Cali I've lived there a few times mostly the South bay area almost 50 yrs ago

OK Mike. I will for sure give it some thought I got a good friend who lives in Anchorage who might could help us out. She's been up there about 30 years now and I've never visited her. She would sh*t. What time of year do usually go? I'd have to brush off my wings. I HATE flying. Enlisted in the Navy because of that, spent 21 years in and was stationed aboard 1 ship for a couple of years. Every where else I went (and I went a lot) I flew. I've been to Anchorage more than a few times, but I never pulled in there, only landed at the AFB. There and Kodiak. Good times.

I did that a lot when I had my big boat in the salt. Took a lot of mostly non fishing friends, and tried to give them a good experience. We had a in shop Bluefish tournament one year, 6 guy's from work with boats, and their chosen crews. I had 2 nonfishermen, and 2 freshwater guys on my crew. We cleaned house, taking all 4 prize categories. It was a very $ rewarding day, and bragging rights for a year.
I would love to spend a day on the water with you OBG, as well as most of the regulars on the Stage. I'm hoping to accomplish that after retirement, at least as much as I can afford to.

Fred,

Where'd you keep that behemoth?
What waters you fish?

Solitude. Nothing like it. I have a regular fishing buddy but have no problem going by myself at 5:30 in the morning. The sunrise, birds, scenery and quiet is like nothing else. If I could bottle it, I would.

I used to keep it in the Hammonasset River, just up river from Clinton Harbor. I was fishing mostly the middle of the sound. New Haven to Old Lyme.

Most of the time I fish by myself. Many reasons I do fish alone. In my circle of friends not many of them fish and the one or two that do. Will only fish for walleye. My favorite to fish for at home is the smallmouth. I love taking my grandkids and my three daughters. By the way the daughters can fish with the best of any fisherman. The problem with them is they don't live close. We do get to fish together when we can.
Don't get me wrong. I love fishing with other people. I just don't mind and enjoy fishing alone. I can do what I want. When I want and as long or as short as I want. I fish some lakes that are a seven-hour drive from home. Unless my wife goes with me, I go alone. Have invited others but nobody has had the time. I fly to Alaska by myself and salmon fish. I have made many friends there in the past nine years and seldom fish alone. But if no one is around I fish alone. I will only travel to Alaska alone also as do most of my friends there do. We have even talked about it. If you come alone, you get to do whatever you want.
I do like fishing with other people and to prove it you are all invited!

I would be ok fishing alone but at my age 83 and having had a heart attack and a stroke it is not a good idea and I don't have the strength to load and unload the boat esp getting it out of the back yard and back in would love a younger fishing buddy my grandsons are really busy with school sports and girls

You do not fly in to Elmendorf AFB with a bunch of sailors and NOT visit the Great Alaska BUSH Company. As I recall.
There was also a place called The Pines.

Like a lot of you, alone in the boat. I got a new motor this yr, because when I turn the key, I want the motor to start. I didn't have that problem with the other motor, but I knew it was coming. Some of the places, in the basin, radar won't find you. I have a nice setup, on a boat that handles very well, and can go most places except the bay. I like the idea, that I come and go as I please, with no timetable.

Yep the Pines was a dancehall, bar, fight club, where street fighters would come and beat up on each other for $50 to the winner. I shot pool for them. I might even still have the 't shirt'.

Yeah, I hear you. It can be a bummer when someone wants to quit or not try other spots. However, it's nice to realize if the fish have lockjaw that day. As for wanting to fish for a certain species, I have to say that's me. I only fish for fish that bite. Tight lines my friend.

The boat looks like a Silverton. If so I had a 29 foot one for 11 years that looked exactly the same. Mostly used in Lake Erie but drove it up to Upper Michigan through Lake Huron and a little into Lake Michigan, a great trip. Take care.
