The boat looks like a Silverton. If so I had a 29 foot one for 11 years that looked exactly the same. Mostly used in Lake Erie but drove it up to Upper Michigan through Lake Huron and a little into Lake Michigan, a great trip. Take care.

Luhrs 28 Marlboro. '73 ,shortly before Luhrs an Silverton merged. I had mine for 16yrs, on Long Island Sound.

I;m seconding Jar!!! Well put! Here in NJ you rarely get to fish alone but that's how I like it too, except for Hutch. He's good cause he doesn't talk much.

Most of the time I fish by myself. Many reasons I do fish alone. In my circle of friends not many of them fish and the one or two that do. Will only fish for walleye. My favorite to fish for at home is the smallmouth. I love taking my grandkids and my three daughters. By the way the daughters can fish with the best of any fisherman. The problem with them is they don't live close. We do get to fish together when we can.
Don't get me wrong. I love fishing with other people. I just don't mind and enjoy fishing alone. I can do what I want. When I want and as long or as short as I want. I fish some lakes that are a seven-hour drive from home. Unless my wife goes with me, I go alone. Have invited others but nobody has had the time. I fly to Alaska by myself and salmon fish. I have made many friends there in the past nine years and seldom fish alone. But if no one is around I fish alone. I will only travel to Alaska alone also as do most of my friends there do. We have even talked about it. If you come alone, you get to do whatever you want.
I do like fishing with other people and to prove it you are all invited!

No witnesses and you don’t have to think about who’s buying the next round!

OK Mike. I will for sure give it some thought I got a good friend who lives in Anchorage who might could help us out. She's been up there about 30 years now and I've never visited her. She would sh*t. What time of year do usually go? I'd have to brush off my wings. I HATE flying. Enlisted in the Navy because of that, spent 21 years in and was stationed aboard 1 ship for a couple of years. Every where else I went (and I went a lot) I flew. I've been to Anchorage more than a few times, but I never pulled in there, only landed at the AFB. There and Kodiak. Good times.

If you do go, plan a trip north of Anchorage. Light tackle for graylings. Not many places in U.S. have them. Some rivers that flow down to the US might have them. I used a 5 weight fly rod, and what a fight. Have fun.

It might seem like we're by ourselves, casting...watching ripples on the surface and such. But we're surrounded by our loved ones, nature, and maybe some family running around.Just when you're hooked into that whopper, worrying your knot wasnt tied right or the like will snap you have that calm feeling that someone has whispered this very scenario in your ear years ago...and may now be offering backup!

I saw your post and was inspired to respond. I too fish alone at least half the time. I find however that I do not enjoy it near as much as I use to. I would prefer to fish with someone else...their boat or mine...their kyack or mine...whatever.

If I want to go fishing, I can quickly agree with myself on a time and a place, but if I make plans to go with someone else, then I must take their likes and dislikes, schedule and availability into account. It complicates the issue! If I waited around for my elder daughter, who lives with us and loves to fish, to agree to go with me, then I would spend most of my time waiting. She has limited availability, but I would rather fish with her than anybody else.

At this stage in my life...I am 71...and sorta semi--retired...I don't have to work full-time...I want to go fishing when I want to go fishing, and I don't want to have to talk someone into going with me. I am however a bit more anxious (uneasy) about going out in the boat on my own without any backup. I like the security of having someone else with me. I feel safer when boating with a partner. This uneasy feeling is so intense, that sometimes I have to force myself to go. I have to talk myself into it and then make myself hook up the jonboat and head out on the water. Once I get on the water, I love it!!! I never regret going and I am always so happy and satisfied with myself for making the decision to go.

So, that is my story. I fish alone 50%-60% of the time, but I prefer to fish with a buddy. Right now, I don't have any fishing buddies in my area...well, I actually do, but they have their own boats and they do their own thing. They don't need me to invite them to go fishing. IDEA---Maybe my NewYears resolution should be to find a Fishing Buddy?!? Good Idea!!!
