Good topic 57! I too like fishin alone. The problem fishing with others is that you are trying to make sure they have a good time and catch fish. At least when they are in my boat. If they don't, you feel somewhat guilty. Being alone simplifies that tremendously. Most of my friends I take are not true fishermen like the people here on the stage. I would have no problem fishing with many of you folks here on this site as I think we get it and understand why we are out here. Plus we can learn from each other.

It's hard to find true fishing buddies that like to fish like alot of us do.
I have two good fishing buddies one who lives in orange 🍊 County
And one up here.
But I just found out yesterday that my fishing buddy up here had a heart attack Friday afternoon. And has to have a Trippol by pass!!.
Last year I met Ranger 123
And enjoy fishing with him and he will always be welcome in my boat.
Hope all is good 👍
Have a great day
Andy

I am lucky to have had a fishing friend for the last twenty-five years. When We Trout fish together we can barely see each other. When we are in my boat we can go hours without much of a conversation. When we do talk we are usually busting each other or telling jokes. Best of both worlds.

Most of the time I fish by myself. Many reasons I do fish alone. In my circle of friends not many of them fish and the one or two that do. Will only fish for walleye. My favorite to fish for at home is the smallmouth. I love taking my grandkids and my three daughters. By the way the daughters can fish with the best of any fisherman. The problem with them is they don't live close. We do get to fish together when we can.
Don't get me wrong. I love fishing with other people. I just don't mind and enjoy fishing alone. I can do what I want. When I want and as long or as short as I want. I fish some lakes that are a seven-hour drive from home. Unless my wife goes with me, I go alone. Have invited others but nobody has had the time. I fly to Alaska by myself and salmon fish. I have made many friends there in the past nine years and seldom fish alone. But if no one is around I fish alone. I will only travel to Alaska alone also as do most of my friends there do. We have even talked about it. If you come alone, you get to do whatever you want.

I fish alone about 98 percent of the time. Friends either don't fish or like fishing for species I don't care about.

I usually fish alone also. My closest fishing buddy has his own boat also so when we fish we each bring our own boats. That way we can stray off where ever we desire and stray back at our own leisure. Sometimes we return to the dock at different times. It also helps to find the fish by separating for a while. The main problem is that he has a J O B and I'm retired.

Fishing alone has its advantages and also some disadvantages. Last summer when I ran aground where there was no cell coverage I had to wait for help from my call out through my In Reach. I got stuck first thing in the morning and got out at dark after my help could arrive with shovels.

My first wife did not like to fish, so 95% of the time I fished alone. It was OK, until I met Mary. She loves to fish; as a matter of fact her nick name is "one more cast Mary". I can't get her off the water sometimes. To me, the maximum pleasure is sharing the days experiences of fishing with someone else. As you can imagine, the stories get bigger and longer as time passes. She has caught the largest bass between the two of us on a CR on Lake Fork.

Of course fishing with the grandkids is in a different category of pleasure. Take care and stay safe.

I've always enjoyed solo fishing. Mostly for the pure enjoyment nature has to offer. It also gives me the opportunity to explore new places and techniques.
I also fish with some regular partners for the commraderie, stories, and laughs.

I hear ya John. Lot of the places I used to fish I can't get to anymore, or if I did I wouldn't be able to get out and back to base. I still know a few spots that nobody else is aware of, but that gets tougher and tougher to come by here in California with 35 million or so other folks. Here's a spot.

Looks like a road there Spirit😀👍

I fish most of the time alone I like it because when I catch a fish{BASS} I might cast 15 to 20 times back in the same place and most people want to keep moving, also I get up around 4 o'clock and the people I fish with don't want to get up that early.I do keep my PFD on while on the water.

I fish by myself 95% of the time. I enjoy being alone, fishing. I don’t like visiting when I’m fishing and I don’t like entertaining anyone. I used to fish with two brothers who loved it as much as I do. We jaw jacked a little but not much. Each of us were there to fish, not visit. When I worked, I’d get off work and hightail it to my Crappie place and sit by myself all day long. Even if it was slow, I’d stay because I’m always looking for the big one to show up. I’m still like that.
My (fishing buddy) I went with several times and never caught anything, wants me to go Crappie fishing with him this coming Tuesday. He bought a live scope and is learning how to use it. That means there will be a lot of small talk of which I’ll mostly tune him out. I just like to sit and fish and enjoy the nature all around me and my thoughts. That’s how I work things out.

I guess I fish alone about half the time. The solitude , being out in nature is the best thing on earth. Then fishing with a partner is great too. The competition, story telling , and getting to share the boating chores is all good. My 2cents...

Yeah that's kind of a unique place, but one of my favorites. It's accessed by a dirt road but nobody ever goes there. I've been going there for about 20 years or so, at least once a year, and in that time I've seen one other person and he was in a canoe across the lake from me. I've never spoken to a single person up there. Come on to California and I'll take you with me. Some nice trout in there.
