Over the past few weeks my eldest grandson has called to chat with me three different times. He can never remember his name (I always have to guess it) and he is always on vacation in Boston and coming home soon. I have been playing along with this thinking the best way to harm a phone scammer is to waste his or her time as much as possible. I keep waiting for the hammer to drop and be asked for money.

However this morning it occurred to me that I might be outsmarting myself. Perhaps they aren't after money directly from me but are recording my voice through repeated conversations for some nefarious purpose. Who knows but in future I plan to no longer engage in conversation.
