They are certainly recording your responses to use against you. By all means, never say yes when they ask if it is you when they call. Hang up or don’t answer a call from a number you don’t recognize!

They also ask if you can hear them,

And then they record your voice saying YES!

I found out that I could silence any caller that’s not in my directory list. The calls come in, but the phone doesn’t ring. If it happens to be legit, the caller will leave a message. It’s made my life so much better, with the phone not ringing all day. Check it out. It’s a simple, one step process.

However this morning it occurred to me that I might be outsmarting myself. Perhaps they aren't after money directly from me but are recording my voice through repeated conversations for some nefarious purpose. Who knows but in future I plan to no longer engage in conversation.

I just recently got scammed by filling out a survey supposedly sent by CVS pharmacy. I had just recently gotten vaccinated there and thought it was a legitimate questionnaire. After completing the survey they said I was eligible for a free prize. They were offering a WiFi repeater which I was in the market for anyway, just had to pay shipping. So like a dumb ass I gave them my credit card number and lo and behold the WiFi repeater shows up about a week later. A week after that there was another charge on my credit card by the same outfit that did the shipping. After getting chewed out by my wife for being so gullible I called my credit card company to due a chargeback and was told I had to cancel the card to do this. This was extremely inconvenient as we had automatic payments set up and now will have to redo them once we get the new credit card. Moral of story is don’t be dumbass if it’s free it’s probably not.

Yep, EXACTLY what happened to me after going to Walgreen's. I get a lot of emails supposedly from CVS, Costco and other places saying I won $50 worth of stuff and so on. They want to get their hands on your credit card info. I got chewed out as well.

The old saying is if it sounds to good to be true it most likely isn't. These scammers are improving more and more. The email / text scammer that pretends they are Amazon, has their logo and all the right #'s and address's. Pay Pal same thing.

But like i mentioned earlier the email hacker has got their sh!! together. Hope one day the burn reverses.

I always look at the EMail adddress of those sending me "Surveys or Free Items". If it is NOT right to me, Deleted.

The email that was sent to my wife was a email from her cousin asking for $$$$. Her cousin's email list was hacked and the hacker sent out $$$$ request with a sob story.

She made the mistake of responding by way of email asking what was going on. Then her email list got hacked from responding and address on her list were compromised. Had quite a few phone calls telling people not to respond.

A few that we did not reach in time had called and asked what is the sob story.

One big frigging snowball.

I'll often answer Tehama County Sheriffs Office for those that aren't in my caller ID and they always hang up and that number never calls back.

Similar thing happened to my wife, but we eventually smelled a skunk and declined to do it. Was real convincing. the line for this one was My wife got a text from a good friend. That "friend" said hey I have an issue with my Credit card and wanted to know if we had a Amazon account. When she said yes, that "Friend" asked her to buy a gift card on Amazon and have it sent to a third "FRIEND" of theirs whose Birthday was tomorrow and the first "friend" would pay her back. I didn't like it and when my wife asked the two REAL friends, they said they didn't know anything about it.
BE CAREFUL!

Yep, if they can record you saying YES or something similar they use it as your acceptance of something.

when they want to sell me burial insurance I tell them I am 18. Click.
When they want to sell me life insurance, I tell them I am 96. Click.
When the lady asked me how old I was, I replied, "well, first how old are you?" She said 26. I said
"really?, you sound like you are 55. Click

The best way to keep them wasting time on the phone is when they ask for your credit card expiration date is to
tell them that the card is in my billfold in the bedroom somewhere. They wait and wait thinking they really have a
big one on the 'line'.
A little levity leavens the whole lump.
