Marine biologists estimated the weight at around 4,400 lbs. !

Heard of those. Was an old story years ago about a diver encountered one somewhere off the coast here by Galveston. Story goes the thing had the guys leg down it’s throat , and he managed to get away, that’s the story. Kinda like the giant catfish that live at the dam at Sam Rayburn , that are so big their mouths are a mans shoulders width. Anybody local to Texas ever heard about the sunfish / Galveston or catfish / Rayburn?

I've watched them swim below the boat. Both the upper and lower fins move together. They both go left, then they both go right. From what I've read, the Mola Mola is usually full of parasites.

i caught one of these while trolling in the Catalina channel from a 16 foot skiff. I estimated its weight around 400 pounds. Very very unusual looking fish. It had been snagged accidentally and I released it. I’ve occasionally encountered them in the Los Angeles area out in the channel. I think they eat jelly fish. Tight lines boys.
