I believe Hawaiian custom says you should not land those. Let them go, or you will be a long time before any more fishing success.

Saltwater sunfish ? First for me -
never heard of such a thing 'til
now ! This beast was caught in someone's fishing net somewhere
off the coast of North Africa !

Marine biologists estimated the weight at around 4,400 lbs. !

wonder how ten pound test would work there???
methinks you would need lotsa line

Yeah, you would ! Ten-lb. test ?
More like 1/2-in. steel cable, and plenty of it - dang thing weighed
over two ton (4,400 lbs.) !

Yo ! Gordon !
That would be a good trick if I could pull it off ! It's a lo-o-o-ong way from Arizona to the north African coast - then I would need a semi and a
refrigerated trailer to haul the beast
back ! It's an even better trick
trying to do it on a Social
(In-) Security income !

Ya dream on that one

Never ceases to amaze me what they “ find” in the ocean. They’re busy searching the universe and dont even know what’s swimming around THIS planet.

Behind the fins is the tail Henry. The ones I've seen were only 4 or 500 lbs. They were very slow moving, and up on the surface, sunning themselves. Saw the dorsal fin at a distance, and thought it was a shark. Circled around and pulled up close a then saw what it was. Pretty cool.
