This just turned up in some family documents. I thought it might be interesting for others since I thought it was pretty cool. Wife’s great grandfather passed in 1927. This license was in his wallet.

Yes. He had it with him until the end. I went and googled images of old fishing licenses. The hand writing on the one is very stylized. Also interesting that the back mentions dynamite and using explosives. I guess that must have been a thing back then. Big enough deal to mention right on the license.

Right no dope. Not sure I know the meaning of that. Don’t smoke the wacky weed while fishing? When I looked up dope fishing it seems to relate to scented products on bait. Certainly legal now around here at least. Anyone familiar to an illegal dope having to do with fishing?

That's cool Jwid, 2yrs for using Explosives. Imagine that, real penalties for breaking the law, and in black and white, no plea bargaining. Definitely keep that in your family heirlooms

Liquid pot maybe. I do know it you put cement in the water it will bring fish to the surface. Saw that one day when i was in construction. They was pouring a headwall for a drain pipe into a small stream. A few minutes later fish was tail walking everywhere. It suffocated them

Awesome. A buck and I’ll bet he could fish whenever he wanted and keep fish back then too. I’m way younger than that and I can remember my first hunting license in Wyoming. We didn’t have a fishing license. Fishing came with a hunting license and you didn’t need anything till you were 16. $5.00 bought me a hunting license that covered fishing year round, a deer tag, an elk tag, antelope tag, bear tag and a mountain lion tag. It cost an addition $.50 for an upland game bird license and another $.50 for water foul. So 6 bucks got me a tag for anything I wanted Hunt or fish for in Wyoming back then. Plus I could shoot a buck or a doe of the deer and antelope species and either a bull or cow elk. We actually had to apply for a moose or a big horn sheep tag. I applied for both but never got one of those. Must have been 1970 or 1971.
