I see the advertisement on the stage for the Mercury V12 600hp outboard motor and wonder just who among us will be able to part with a minimum of$77,000. A new bass boat anywhere between $55k and $75k. Plus a new tow vehicle at min $35k. I look at these figures and think I could buy a pretty nice house for that. Why do we submit to paying these prices and put up with the new and better always costing much more?

Forest Gump's Mama said it, "Stupid is as Stupid does."

I don't understand that cost for a boat either.

You can't look at it that way. It's just the cost of doing business.

My boat is on the conservative side but I have it pretty well equipped and it gets me where I’m going and brings me back
I picked up a 4 year old truck this spring . Pretty nice and low miles. I didn’t want the new truck payments.

Prior to this I went thru a few boats that I’d redone , customized for what I wanted. Those got the job done too.

I am also struggling with the necessity of a $100k bass boat.
Sure they are nice. I’d love to have one but I’m just not there yet.

One word here " Kayak "

Suits me fine, and as for the fish, they taste the same no matter what price the craft.

Must be a status symbol somehow......a dude finances a high powered bass boat and super duty to tow it and lives in a dilapidated mobile home

Many years back I had a 12 foot aluminum boat with a 18 hp evinrude and it seems that every time I went out fishing 🎣 I caught a lot of fish 🐠 a few years back I bought the pro team 195 txw Tracker and for two years going out I would be lucky if I got limited each time sometimes get skunked I think the fish 🐠 would look up and said if I can afford this nice boat then I can go to the store and buy a fish 🐠 where as when I was in my old broken down aluminum boat they felt sorry for me 🙏😜 just saying

I guess everybody has their reasons/priorities and are different than the others. If a guy or gal is single, or if their mate fishes with them all the time, they may want to spend more money and time on their boat than they do on/in their house.
That’s just not me but ......
To each their own.

It seems to me, that anything will only cost as much as somebody is willing to pay for it. (That "somebody" is $URE NOT ME!)

Okay now, let me paint a picture for you: Trolling with a 600 HP outboard!
kind of like using a Lamborghini to carpool the kids to school.
