I have found that forceps are a great aid with small stuff.

Thanks for your help, everyone. I opted out of the swivel and tied the clip to the end of the leader. It worked just fine. I like the looks of those Coast clips, though…👍

Betts , Those swivels in you picture are a waste to me. Try the Coast lock ones. That's all I use.

Totally agree with Gordon. Another choice would be P-Line's snap swivels... excellent quality ones WILL NOT come open. Eagle Claw version are pretty much cheapish from Walmart... waste of money, imo.

I attach a power clip to my braid main line, and swivels to the fluro rig for boat fishing. That way I can change out my rig quickly when necessary. The other way around for surfcasting so I can just change lures quickly.

I use the clips on most of my rigs. I use swivels only when I am fishing with spinners. I believe that it reduces line twist and avoids line breakage

Thanks, More. I’m wondering if I should tie a swivel to the leader end and then attach the clip to it, so the action is similar to that of the barrel swivel. 😁

Your already concerned with the swivel and your thinking of hanging that power clip off of it? I used a regular swivel and tie lines directly to it. I haven't fished with much in the way of lure's and plugs in years but when I did I used those swivels in your picture without a problem. For jig head I just ties the line to them.

I believe she was thinking of using a barrel swivel to prevent line twist not the clip style. Correct me if I’m wrong. :)

I keep a mini needle nose type snap ring pliers around my neck along with my line cutter. It works great to open and close the snaps. My hands don't work as good as the used to and the pliers save my fingernails.

Hmm! I’m using braid w/ 3-4 ft. leader. Would I be tying the swivel to the braid, then to the fluoro, then attaching the clip? I hope I’m describing that in a way that isn’t too confusing. Thank you!

Yes that would be the way to eliminate any line twist problems you would encounter using certain lures make sure you use a short leader as not to mess with.the tip tops guide

Thanks for the advice and reminder, Bapa - I think I have a pair of those somewhere. 😁 My issue is less with my hands than it is with my eyesight. Hazards of aging, lol.

Remember the barrel swivel stops the line from twisting. The clips are probably a fast way to change your bait or lure your using

Thanks, FOF. When I said I’ve always used the Eagle Claw snap swivels, I mean like always, since I was a kid. I’ve just recently started really trying to learn to be a better angler, which involves learning about better gear. I appreciate all the help. Having said that, it’s entirely possible that the Eagle Claw snaps bent and opened because of operator error. I’d much rather think that the bass on the line was too big for the cheapo clip to handle. 😂
