Thank you for the correction - I was not aware of the difference !
Either one is a nasty snake that should be avoided. Timber rattlers put off a stink and you can usually smell them before you see them. Call me cruel and whatever but I kill every poisonous snake I see

Not fond of snakes either, but hate spiders more ! Oh, and out here we also have scorpions to add to the 'fun' (nearly stepped on one in the bathroom of my rented mobile home at 3 AM awhile back) !
Didn't know timber rattlers had a strong 'scent' about 'em, although I had heard/read that about cottonmouths !

We have Bark Scorpions here, not deadly, like being stung by a wasp. We also have pygmy rattlers, no more than 2ft long, hard to see and very aggressive. Not deadly but can cause lots of problems if not treated asap

The one I nearly stepped on was a bark scorpion - not deadly, but can be very painful ! Would have been very much so had I stepped on it - it was inches from my right instep !
The problem with always killing them is you end up taking away the natural resources of keeping the rodent population down thatโs what happened in Australia now they have a enormous rodent problem
