Ok, worse car that I owned was a Dodge Omni, can’t remember the year. Engine was good, I think that they used the Volkswagen Rabbit engine. Rest of the car was junk, the carpet kept coming out of the trim work and the headlight lens trim was held on with double sided tape and fell off. We bought the car new. Haven’t owned a Dodge since.

1958 Chevy impala. Bought if from a junk yard for $40.00 in 1970. No engine or transmission but no rust. Replaced one window and he body was decent. Got it running in about 6 months and drove it for a couple of years and sold it for $300.00. Black with red interior. Bought a 1961 T-Bird for $150.00 in 1974 and there wasn’t a thing wrong with it other than the pale green paint was faded really bad. Sold the T-Bird for $250.00 and bought a pickup. It’s been pickups ever since. Don’t have any pictures. Don’t think they even had cameras back then😂

One summer I bought a REALLY
cheap car ($30) just to get around because my good car was in the
shop getting an engine swap ! That
'60 Chevy was in serious need of a ring job - it smoked so bad that one day some friends followed me to a market (beer run) five minutes after
I left and told me every street I took
to get there - they just followed the smoke trail !

I used to keep cases of recycled
oil in the trunk (about 50 cents/can), and one day some of us took a
short trip to the beach (about 40 minutes each way); it cost me
$5.00 for gas and another $5.00
for oil !

That was probably the worst car I ever owned, it was damn near undriveable.

So what's the best car you ever owned? My best buy was a 1970 or 80 something Toyota Tercel that I bought from a college student who really needed the money. I think I gave him $500 cash for it. It had over 200,000 miles on it and it got almost 30 mpg and didn't use a drop of oil. I drove it around for a year or so, then gave it to one of my daughters. She drove it for a couple of years and then I think she sold it to someone - it's probably still running somewhere down in San Diego. One of those beasts you run into every now and then that just refuses to die.
I am currently driving a GMC Canyon, and I'm pretty happy with it. Decent gas mileage for as powerful as it is.

My first car was a brand new 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner. I ordered it while I was in Vietnam. It was in the driveway when I got home.

Mine was a 1972 Ford 3/4 4x4 pickup. That this was like your Toyota. Just changed the oil once in a while and it just wouldn’t quit. I don’t remember how many miles it had on it but it was, by far, the best rig I’ve ever owned and it would pull anything and go almost anywhere. Back then, late 70s, we didn’t worry much about gas mileage. Premium (red) gas, high test as we called it was 63 cents a gallon and it was 100 octane. I never fixed or changed a thing on that old pickup. Bought it for $800.00 and sold it for $1200.00 after I drove it for 10 years. It even had the same spark plugs it had when I bought it. Just never failed. It was a big mistake selling that old thing. The guy that bought it completely restored it and still has it. He don’t drive it much but it looks like new. I’m buying older stuff again now just for that reason. I can work on em and they’re not $70,000.00. We bought a new KIA Sorento in 2016. Biggest pile of junk we ever had. Always something wrong with it so we finally got rid of it and went to older vehicles.

A buddy of mine had one of those in high school. Nice car. His was all blue and ran awesome. Not many cars around could beat him in a drag race and I believe it was stock. Just ran like crazy. Went through a lot of back tires I know.😂

Hard to say which was best - had a few that I really liked, and a few that
I truly hated !

Some of my favorites include my
'62 Olds '98 Holiday Sport Sedan,
two Cutlass Supreme Sport Coupes ('77 and '86), a '71 GMC 3/4-ton, 4x4
pick-up and a '98 Jeep Grand
Cherokee ! Also had a '61 Chevy
rag-top that was fun in good
weather, but really frigid in the
winter - heater could not warm it sufficiently enough to be
comfortable; rag-tops are NOT
made for New England winters !

I really loved mine. Won most drag races with it. Unfortunately about 13 months later I totaled it and almost myself. I spent a lot of hospital time after the crash.

Those late 50's fords and chevies are classic examples of outstanding automotive styling. Chrysler, in my opinion, did not fare so well. The 57 fury and imperial - pretty ugly in my view. Then what I think is THE best example of the classic 1950's models. The Studebaker Golden Hawk.

YES and the 1955 president speedster ... what cars.

First car was a 1928 Ford Model A with rumble seat. Bought out of a vacant lot in 1963. Cleaned it up. Went through the engine, started driving it. Mechanical brakes were a real trip. Dropped a 48 mercury flat head V8 into it, trans mated ... all else still stock (trans, rear end, brakes, fuel tank). Put big tires on rear was very fast for 1st 2 blocks. A lot of fun. Traded for a 56 chevy bel-aire, then a 63 chevy impala.
