About 30yrs ago or so I was at local lake fishing from shore with a Zara Spook ,up to my waist in the water seeing boils by a submerged tree and cast out to it, and wham!! My line went singing right and left ,out whatever that wanted to do, fought him for what seemed like 10minutes,I was yelling to my father in law that I had a 10 lb. Bass or bigger! After awhile I began asking myself why he wouldn't jump? Finally landed her, 16lb. 35"" big carp! I was gonna release her but FIL said heck no I'll makesteaks out of it. Man can they fight!!By the way I snagged her on the back,,accidently,,,

Carp are all I fish for extreme fighters they are, river carp are the fighters, they are constantly fighting the current just building muscle.

I had smoked carp one time and it really tasted good.

Yes thats what my Father in law does, we have alot of them in irrigation canals but i dont care for the taste in those, but the ones that come out of our lakes are pretty good smoked.

You can get rid of that muddy taste by purging them in tank of fresh water for a couple days.

Good one ! First time I ever saw wild dolphins/porpoises (and flying fish)
was on my training cruise aboard a destroyer in the Caribbean (March, 1967) ! They were (all of them) keeping pace with our ship just
ahead of and alongside our bow !

Continuously spectacular imagery! Love the close ups! Seeing nature in such great detail! Amazing what the eye does not see at a casual glance until you study a crisp photograph!

I'm glad you like them,I just take pictures of daily encounters in my life,I never go looking for something to get a shot of,it always comes to me,and as I wear my Nikon as uniform of the day I'm always ready, this is what I see TESTIMONY of a CREATOR and HIS CREATIONS,who else could do such a thing.

Some more.

What extraordinary posts ! And your "handle" is totally apt for you.... you ARE "thefinder", to be sure.
And here I thought it was only a camera part.....you give new meaning to "the view finder" with your eye for the candid and seldom seen. Reading this thread feels like I just saw a Nature channel or PBS special..... thanks so very much for sharing with us.

And we'll just ignore the fact you fish for carp....ON PURPOSE !
LOL ! (dammit... even the picture of one was stellar, hehehe!)
