I love all the dog/best buddy stories, but am very saddened for those who have to get put down. I have two now. Had four, but in the last 5 years have had to have two Jack Russel's put down, one because very sick who was also blind and def and the other a tumor in his brain both old, 15 and 17 and it just about killed me. I packed them in and out of the house for about a year each to do their business because they couldn't do it by them selves.

I’m feeling for you buddy. We lost 2 dachshunds this past year. One from cancer and the other had a brain tumor that caused her to go into seizures that wouldn’t quit. Just thinking about her makes me tear up.
I know the feeling lost one two years ago an his Bro is now 15 and almost blind and can hardly hear so I know its about his time to go but I am having a hard time with doing it

Thanks FISH, Scooter, one of those two, who was well into his 17s had a brain tumor and when I set him down on the lawn to do is business, he would always walk in a circle and in the same direction, and the vet said that direction indicated which side of the brain it was on. He was one of if not the smartest 4 legged kids I have ever had. Love that little guy. He got hold of a Raccoon that was eating my grapes and killed it. He had learned from the first encounter when he got out into the woods one time and I heard the fight. I called him and he came. Had a nip on a foot and an ear. Told the vet I thought it was a Raccoon and not a cat and the vet said that was better because all the germs in a cats mouth!

This is CJ. She loads up in the Tahoe and goes to the lake with me. She has excellent lakeside manners. No barking, no biting, stays close, minds well and she is funny. C.J. is short for Calamity Jane. She us the State Dog of Texas. She is a Blue Lacy. 'Smoking' her corndog.
Betty was the best dog fishing partner I've ever had. She wouldn't want to leave the boat.
I have 2 English springers. At about 10 weeks old, Sue and I put them in my 16’ aluminum lake boat. She had both of them in her arms as I pushed off. As I jumped in, they jumped out. Both swam the 10 feet back to shore, and started barking at us to come back. We were in my pond at home, so I paddled out another 5’. Sure enough, they both decided to swim out. Sue, worried they would both drown, unceremoniously pulled them both back into the boat, only to have them jump back out again. Both of them have no fear of swimming since that day. My female “Dakota” runs and jumps about 5 feet off of the dock and just cruises around the pond.

Scooter. He was my side kick on the river for 13 years. He passed away 2 years ago and we can’t seem to bring ourselves to replace him yet. He was awesome. Like yours. No bark, no bite, loved anybody with food and got along great with everything but huge dogs. He attempted to chase a coyote outa the yard when he was 5. That didn’t go as planned. The coyote was like “😋dinner is coming right to me”. My wife scared the coyote bad enough he dropped Scooter and $4000.00 later he was fishin again.
