I would be inclined to cut that bush down.

Napa that tangled bunch of brush was 40 yards out and I limit my shots to 25 yards even though I am grouping shots at 50-60 yards in a 4” circle. I’m shooting a youth model PSE set at 45 pounds. Too many things can go wrong from the time I release the arrow to impact at those distances.

Thank you so much, for making mention of the CWD! (I was completely ignorant of it, 15 minutes ago). If anyone reading this doesn't know about this disease; I strongly recommend doing some research. I plan to look deeper into it, myself. Don't it just always seem like: "If it ain't 1 thing; it's 15 others"?

Hi Able. If i remember right it started in Michigan. It took awhile but it's spread. Any state that has it has strict rules about a harvested animal. It has to be processed in that area. Yep it is always something. Deformed fish mutant fish. Just read a article about mutant snakes. Two headed ones are showing up more often. Copperheads n rattle snakes breeding together. Man this whole world is mixed up 😬

Yesterday was wonderful.
Went catfishing with my friend. Caught 12 pounds of fish. YIPPEE
Experimented with a toad I caught for use as bait. 4# channel cat was caught on a 1/2 toad under a slipcork 12' deep. The toad was extremely durable having been pulled through bull rushes twice before being eaten by the cat and was still solid on the hook when removed from the catfish. Guts were still inside.
2 blue cats caught on cut shad.

Make your cats taste better if you remove that red meat

Grizzly I did pull that one off. When the big 10 pointer looked the other way I hung up the antlers on my right side and grabbed my bow on my left. It caught some movement and went behind a bunch of brush but I could see his legs. It stayed there for 10 minutes then headed back the way it came in. A grunt and snort wheeze brought it back behind that same spot. It stayed there for 30 minutes then a repeat of leaving and calling him back to the same spot again. A few minutes later it starts moving towards my kill zone. I go to full draw and he stops and I have to let down. As soon as I do it starts to move, I go back to full draw, the buck is now at 20 yards. I softly grunt and stop the buck and let the arrow fly and it jumps the string. A complete miss! Man that was one exciting 45-50 minutes! 4 days later I rattle an 8 pointer in on a dead run and it stops behind that same bunch of brush. It stays there for a couple of minutes then moves into the same spot that the 10 pointer was and my arrow zips through it, a perfect double lunger.

That is so exciting to be able to call them in so close. Letting it fly to the intended target is a bonus.
I still sit in a treestand but I no longer bowhunt. Sold my bow because I could no longer pull it to full draw and hold it steady. Got tired of freezing my butt off too.

I've been following the ingenuity of your recent bait concepts... "congratulations" on the pay off with your catch! Pretty cool and resourceful! At this rate, you will be enjoying home made fish dinners whenever you choose all year long from your fresh caught and stored freezer supply! Well done!

Thank you. It has been an adventure. My mentor said, ' try it girl. You never know til you try.' I like that he encourages my experimentation instead of knocking the idea in the dirt. He helps me grow.

WH it is very addictive chasing them whitetails. I’ve been bowhunting since 84 and I’ll be 73 in October and am planning on going again this year. If you still have that burning desire there are options. My grandson bought a Mission Craze when he was 13. It adjusts from 19” to 31” I think and draw weight from 15 to 70 pounds. It’s axle to axle length is only 29”. He shot his first bow kill that year at 18 yards with the draw weight set at 32 pounds. He is shooting 61 pounds of draw weight and he just turned 20 in may. Check your Texas hunting regulations you may be able to shoot a crossbow. Mine is a Wicked Ridge made by Tenpoint. It has a crank handle to cock it with, not hard at all.

If you dress in layers with a good base layer, use a muffler with a body warmer in it, an adhesive body warmer stuck to one of your layers about shoulder blade high and hot hands foot warmers you should stay pretty warm too.
