Well guys we had another decent day. Probly caught bout a dozen fish. Jim, who's 95, caught bout 10 and I caught a few. His largest was bout 3 1/2 pounds. No pic of that one, early release right at the boat.
I had one hit my swimbait like a freight train and ZOOM to deep water. I knew it wasn't a bass, but a steelhead.
Fought it for a couple of min and got it a little ways from the boat and I could tell it was goin to come up and jump. I kept my rod tip down at the water but it didn't keep him from doin it.
When he tried to jump it was like he was too big to get fully out of the water. Looked to be 24 inches + and bout 6 inches deep. I estimated him to weigh bout 4 or 5 pounds. Needless to say when he jumped he spit my swimbait.
Easily would have been the largest steelhead I've ever caught out there.
OH well. I wish I would have landed it but on the other hand, I'm kinda glad it got off cause I probly would have kept it and I really wouldn't have needed to.
Here are a few from today.
By the way, found another anchor today AND I took some pics of them, all 4.

Great story and great fishing steve. Those anchors look just like the one that Whitereb gave me, only itโ€™s new. Now I just have to get a chain and rope.

Jim is 95 ? Wow, he looks fantastic! So nice of you to get him out and do some nice catching. Curious though, does everyone out your way use danforth anchors and if so for what reason?

That feeder stream/creek to the Russian River had/has a population of steelhead that comes up from the Russian River.
When they built the dam quiet a few were trapped up stream and couldn't return to the ocean. They continued to spawn in the future years and there is a hatchery at the bottom of the dam now. They use to stock some of the steelhead up in the lake but stopped years ago because there's a healthy population of them that live and spawn in the feeder creeks that feed the lake. They don't look like a rainbow trout either. They look like a silver bullet.:

They were probably exposed, the water level has dropped dramatically in that reservoir

How deep is the reservoir Sinker? Thatโ€™s something else, finding all those anchors. Thanks.
