I like everyone like to catch BIG FISH. However as long as I’m catching dish I’m having a good day. I release 99% of what I catch anyway. So thanks for the pictures love seeing what others catch. And I understand your pain regarding the turtles

I've seen them sunning themselves on the surface Able. They are huge. Saw them offshore when Tuna fishing at Block Canyon.

What Fred said, I have also seen them while tuna fishing. They are huge and when they are sunning their fin sticks up out of water. Can easily think its a tuna or shark at first sight

These are the pictures from our fishing guide Bapabear. I've never seen any with horizontal stripes.

Thanks for the photos. Bluegill and pumpkinseeds are the common catch around here. I have heard people say they catch rock bass in some lakes, but have never seen any myself. I caught rock bass regularly in the gold dredging ponds outside of Sacramento CA back in my college days.

That's the exact shape I saw on the "sound machine"; but, I'm pretty sure that rascal was closer to 10' long... It was big enough to make a very well defined "mark" there, on the RCA. ... Also, I have read somewhere, that they are called Moa, in certain localities.

I know they get much larger than the one Bob hooked. From what I remember, they grow up to 8 feet, maybe more.

Way to go Hack. From some of your recent post I'm seeing your back is much better. Keep that hook wet. You did much better fishing & catching than I did yesterday. The state fishing report said the crappie & catfish were hitting excellent below lake Eucha dam, that's a little over an hours drive. I usually fish Eucha several times a year but this was our (my fishing partner went along, my wife) first trip so we had to stop at the lake office & buy city of Tulsa permits. Sign's said open & the doors were unlocked but no one home. I figured the lake patrolman was out on the lake. We waited & drove around like tourist but finally gave it up. We did drive into Jay & had a terrific Mexican dinner. Back to the lake & still no patrolman. Crap like that happens so I don't let it get to me. There's always a next time.

I'm guessing we are all fishermen not catchermen. it is (in my opinion) the most relaxing sport that there is!

Those sure are pretty, Hack. And they act like they’re a lot bigger than they really are, don’t they? Glad you had a good day.

This past Wednesday I went to two different ponds. I was using my little spinner bait in the Bass pond and got one, lost one, then the bottom fell out. I went to the other pond and caught about five or six little sun fish, then the bottom fell out there so I called it a day. If I go fishing I don’t care how large or small they are. I just enjoy fishing and catching one is a perk. I think the dang turtles ate most of my worms when the sunfish couldn’t get to them first.

Great Pics Hack, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that brite of Yellow on a Sunfish. Downright pretty looking fish. I don’t think we have those here, have caught a few Bluegill in the past but never anything that yellow!

When I was in High School, up in Massachusetts; ANY KIND of "panfish" was simply referred to as: "a Kibby"! (¿Anybody call them "Kibbles", in CT?)

Well, I grew up next door in N.H.,
and we also called them 'kibbies'
or 'sunnies' - it didn't matter if they
were bluegills, red-eared sunfish,
red-breasted sunfish, 'greenies',
etc. - they were all lumped together under one generic name or the
other, and those names were
inter-changeable !

I don’t mind getting skunked as long as it’s not because of a boatload of turtles eating my bait.😂

Better your bait than your fingers !
One time, a couple of my fishing buddies and I rented a boat on a
nice, small bass pond - guy in the
stern caught a 2-lb. LM, which
I put on a stringer and tossed
over the side ! Ten minutes later,
the other buddy boats a slightly
bigger bass - when I reached
over the rail to retrieve the stringer,
it seemed heavier than
I remembered - when I looked over
the side to find the problem, there
was a snapping turtle trying to
steal that first bass, and it barely missed taking the tips of two
fingers with it ! After that, I made
it a point to always 'look before
you reach' !
