Maybe the fish are all young. Could it be that the older fish died off because of a flood or a freeze out? Sometimes the problem could be that there are too many fish in a lake and they don't have enough food, so they become stunted.
Last...the lake or channel is fished out by the most dangerous predators on earth...

Right now trout in the Milwaukee River coming to a end, I cought 13 this spring, all browns not one Rainbow, I turned my attention to smallies, one so far, the bit been slow due to the weather, today the 20th and they are talking snow flurries, I fish the river were the old North Ave dam use to be, a good spot to fish is by the marina boat launch, the government pier is right there, it a long L, at the end it's 30 feet deep, it called the gap, behind the Summerfest grounds is a good spot, to find out what's happening just talk with other fishermen, if you feel like it, you can fish your way south from there, the red lighthouse to Discovery world, two big basins, try under the foot bridge, there you go, good luck and tight lines

Hey Dave, 13 is a pretty good number of fish. Were they footballs or long skinny browns? I wonder why the rainbows went away? They say Lake Michigan is getting too warm, but I don't get it...the UP has snow on the ground. They have been getting lots of Steelhead in the rivers on the north end of the lake. The water in Lake Superior's Keweenaw Bay, near Baraga and L'Anse, is only about 34-35 degrees. There was a warm spell about three weeks ago and the smelt lined up in front of the rivers, but the weather turned cold again and they must have stalled, so now the Coho stopped hitting because there are so many smelt in the bay.
What I'm wondering is how is the fishing going out on Lake Michigan near Milwaukee. Does anyone know if they are getting any Coho or Kings?

That would have been quite a sight to see. That's one of those things that, when you do see a photo, you wonder how someone happened to be there with a camera to catch it.

Salmon are in at southern end of lake. Saw a nice king caught, some cohos. Lakes been flat last couple of days too, with a south wind here. Marking at 20-30’ deep over 50’ off the Port of Indiana.

Hi J,
Do you have a cormorant problem which is affecting the perch population? I suspect that is what has happened around here with ours...hence the lower limits.

Read a while back, that they were becoming a problem.

Maybe someone should try to pull all of the outdoor clubs and fishing organizations together to petition the DNR to create a program for controlling their population. It's not rocket science if they are overpopulating. The difficulty will be in getting more than one state to agree on a solution. Open season in about three states should take care of it.

That is a great idea! I’ll look into starting something.
