Turnabout is fair play
I was fly fishing on the Potomac in Northern Virginia and a cormorant came cruising down the middle of a fairly narrow stretch of the river, about 4 feet above the water. As it passed me, a three-foot striped bass leaped fully out of the water to catch it. You could hear the pop of its jaw when it missed. Quite a site.
That would have been quite the site!! Was hoping to have this thread produce some Lake Erie fishing reports. Been mostly cormorants!!!!! Feel like I’m duck hunting!!! Lol 😂😂😂
Have you been out at all? I see your close.

Not on Lake Erie.
I plan to get out this weekend I’ll post results.
Hmmm. Maybe we need more and bigger striped bass to balance nature.
There have been quite a few out on h Maumee river near Toledo fishing Walleye run. I haven't heard of anyone from our area going out on lake Erie yet. Only 40 here tomorrow. Hoping to do some inland lake fishing this weekend.
Good luck

Wanted to know if anyone has fished the Cisco chain of lakes by Watersmeet,Michigan? I’m taking my lady up there in end of August to try and catch SM bass and LM bass. Haven’t fished it in 50 years!!! Any information would be appropriated.

Be sure you have a GPS.. Got lost on that water a number of years back. Thought we may end up staying the night but lucked across a couple locals that ran us back to Big Lake so we could get back to Lodge.
Hi Cougar, It's been about half that time since I tried fishing there. I did not have much luck, but I was after the walleyes. I heard from a reliable source that there was a state record Musky in that chain, so I wouldn't hang a stringer full of fish from your boat unless you want to have what we call a musky encounter. It's still a beautiful place. Good luck.

It’s been along time since I’ve been there. I’d say 1973!!! Fishing was slow for bass but panfish were great. I know a little bit more now about bass so I hope it works for us. Did you do any good?

Thank you Jack for the information. Our homestead was in Arlene outside of Lake City. Nephew sold it 2 years ago..... boy miss that farm house a lot!!! Dad was born in it 1921. Great Grandpa Seattle’s there in 1875.
As I recall, my fishing partner had a drinking problem, so when we got to the resort with the bar at the north west end, we hit bottom and couldn't get off the bar. I had to laugh at lipsticker's response about the GPS because we had a little trouble finding our way back to home base also...and it was dark.
When you were fishing at the Cisco Chain last, I was about 18 Years old. At that time we used to catch monster small mouth bass at a place called Bass Lake in Iron Mountain. Since then, they took all the dead trees and weeds out and covered the shoreline with houses and manicured lawns. The bass are gone.
There is still one place over by Iron Mountain that has monster bass, but it is illegal to cross the land to fish there.

We fished a Bass Lake north of Watersmeet off US45. My parents found this place run by Hank and Hazel from Ohio. We caught bass ,Crappie ,perch ,pike all of good size.... until they put the musky in!!!! That lake was one of the first in the UP to get musky and that had to be in about 1972!!! They planted them as fingerlings and within two years we were catching them up to 36 inches in length.. totally destroyed the lake!!! Up until today that lake is still dead I fished it several times 2010 ,2015 the lake only holds tiny Pike. Very sad!!! That’s why we’re going to try Cisco chain of lakes again if anybody can give me any assistance on lures for walleye or smallmouth or largemouth bass I’d appreciate it. Thanks
I'm a fan of using jigs and rubber stuff for bass and walleye. I had a friend who used to buy all kinds of stick baits, but he wouldn't throw them in the water for fear of losing them. I told him he should leave them home if he can't afford to lose one. Reef runners are a stick bait that seems to work for walleye.
Oh yeah, my uncle used to smoke camel cigarettes and he would send in the packages for these little lures called "camel joe" they looked like a crayfish. He could catch a bass in a mud puddle with those things. In fact, there wasn't any fish he couldn't catch with those things and they were the only lures he had in his box. Very funny, but effective.
