A lot of bad review's, guess i'll just leave them in the water where they belong, thanks guys
they are a lotta fun to catch Lee
In the summertime when bass are hard to find
I get out the wheaties and make little round balls (mixed with a lil lake water)
and see If I can latch onto a good sized carp
try it out and if you do catch one
just release him
and hope you get the same one next summer
he will be bigger then

I've never eaten a carp and probably never will, is there anyone out there who has?, what are they like
We used to go hand fishing and catch gunney sacks full of them. Smoked they are quite tasty. Neighbor used to can carp, okay, but I preferred Smoked.

I've caught fresh water carp in the Susquehanna River in Harford Co. Maryland. I was talking to 2 guys who had a few carp and questioned them as to why they are keeping them. The said that they scale and gut them and cut them into pieces. They boil them until the flesh is falling off the bones. They then strain the meat and add Old Bay and a few other spices and make fish cakes out of them. Said they taste just like crab cakes. I had baked fresh water carp cooked in tomato sauce and it was OK. Had it only once. As kids we use to keep them and trade them for ice cream at a Jewish deli. That was a long time ago.

One of our group used to do the smoking, took the recipe to the grave as far as I know.

I love smoked fish, i guess i would try smoked carp why not but i'm usually a catch and release guy, unless i'm fishing the saltwater or if i get a bad hookup and there's a slim chance for survival.

I know what you mean some people just don't like sharing stuff. I'll find me a recipe online and then adjust it with the seasonings I like

Thanks for the info BB, i may have to give that a try when the bass aint biting this summer, could be fun.
carp. they are bottom feeders so any thing dead, thats non human, will work.
Never ate any but caught them a lot and release them. An older man was fishing them and said he grinds them up and make fish patties. Donβt recall what he added to it. π΄ππ΄
