I've had them fried, but putting them in a smokehouse them is the way to go. Suckers the same way.

I never could stand the thought of eating an eel just by the way they look, then I had a smoked eel and they are great. Disgusting amount of slime on them when you catch one, and we catch a lot of them on the river. They will curl up on your line when they come up out of the water and it is very difficult to get the slime off of your line.

I've had deep fried eel on many occasions, you ought to try it it's delicious

Eels out of the ocean are really good also . Good for sushi think they call it unagi ?

I donโ€™t know about eating them, but some of the most exciting catches in my life have been large carp, all caught incidentally on lures, mostly cranks. A 30lber will test your equipment to the max!
