There is old standing joke of cooking shad which is a lot like carp. It goes like this. You take a piece of cedar shake, brush liberally with olive oil and garlic. fillet the shad and put it in the oven for 1 hour at 350 degrees. When done take it out and throw away the fish and eat the cedar.

Not too bad fried. Best to put in tank of clean fresh water for a few days and feed a little corn before clean and frying. We feed corn to every thing in Nebraska before eating.

search American carp society , American carp culture . from the mid 1800s carp became a huge fisheries resource and still is throughout the world so there must be good recipes out there , it's a good read !

We would always catch some smaller carp, 2 to 4 pounds, filet them leaving the skin on and smoke them. They were very tasty.

My dad had a recipe for cooking those. He said to nail it to a board and cover it with mayo and mustard equal parts. Put board in the oven for 3 hours at 350*. after the three hours remove from oven knock all the stuff off of it then eat the board. Never tried it but you never know.

Have heard a similar recipe, but you covered the carp with dog crap. When fully cooked you threw out the carp and ate the dog crap.

Similar to a Missouri Ozark possum recipe. Cook longer and use a pine board.

I have had it smoked before and it is not bad at all but then I'm the guy who loves a good muskrat dinner once in a while.

What kinda fish is this. Have you ever eaten one. What are some baits to use for them. What are some different ways to harvest them. Unscramble this and be careful handling them and don’t step on one.

We caught them in cold water. The meat is dark (stronger flavored) from the ribcage back and white up towards the head. It's got large flakes of flesh.

I have a great recipe for carp. Heat your oven to 500°F, strap the carp to a 2 x 4 plank with bailing wire, bake the car at 500° for two hours and 30 minutes, take it out of the oven and throw the carp away, and eat the board.Mmmmmm!
