Both of you have a great time and be careful out there. Catch a bunch!

It's 1 am. & we just arrived at the lake. We passed the motel 10 miles back but my wife wanted to go on to the lake & sleep in the truck til daylight. She's anxious to get on the water. Hope to have at least 2 great fall days. I've caught 8 pound LM here on several trips but none larger. I'd like to take home 2 limits of Saugeye, that would be 24. I'm not going to get greedy but saugeye are so good eating. Hope you have a high old time Fred. Catch a big one.

After last week's snow,I wasn't expecting 75°,but I'll take it. Gonna hit the northernmost of the river lakes, Lillinonah. I think I'll skip my usual starting spots and try up the Shepaug River arm. I haven't fished that area for a couple years, so we'll see if I can find any. The population in that area is supposed to favor Smallmouth but we'll see.

Good luck Fred, hope you catch a bunch. Take some pics.

Beautiful weather, terrible fishing. Get to the lake, SURPRISE! unannounced draw down, 8 or 9 feet. Launching was a challenge to say the least. At the end of the dock, cement blocks end, boulders begin. Hit 10 normally productive areas and only scared up one baby Smallmouth. Oh yeah, and a Seaplane. 18 boats out, couple of kayaks, and a dozen jetskis.
The good news is they let the water out of this lake, and refilled the next one, which was too low to use last week. Since all my riding buddies backed out, I'll hit the refilled Smallmouth lake tomorrow.

Thanks PapaJ, oh yeah they do. Sometimes like a bulldog, back into cover or under the boat, and sometimes they think they are a Tarpon, and go airborne multiple times. My personal favorite freshwater fish to catch.

Fred, those smallies sounds like a lot of fun to catch. I wish we had them down here in our lakes.

You would love 'em Hack, any size over a pound fights like a much larger fish. And sometimes they are downright mental cases.

Fred. How did you make out fishing? Was the Shepaug low water? Not much rain. Rivers around me are very low.

Mau, they dropped the level in Lillinonah by 8 or 9 feet and that includes the Shepaug arm also. According to a resident it's a 2week drawdown. I hope it's back to normal soon as I usually do my last trip of the year there on Thanksgiving weekend.
Oh and the fishing was dead, one baby Smallmouth. Coming home I checked Zoar an it looks like it's back to normal level. 2 weeks ago it was too low to launch. I'm gonna hit it tomorrow.

This can't be real Fred. My 314 mile from home 72 acre lake was drawn down probably 10 ft. We barely got the boat launched. I had to go to the front of the boat & push it in. Determined to make this work we fished with every type, color & size of crankbaits, stick baits & even top water. My wife finally caught a 14 1/2 inch LM on a small inline spinner. I managed to catch 3 even smaller on a Mepps spinner. Tomorrow we're going 60 miles east to Foss Lake & try for hybrids & walleye. Right now I'm enjoying a soft reciner in my room at the Hampton Inn. It's incredible that Fredfish & i take the weekend to catch some fish & experience the same problem & we're at least 1000 miles apart. Good luck Fred.
