After last week's snow,I wasn't expecting 75°,but I'll take it. Gonna hit the northernmost of the river lakes, Lillinonah. I think I'll skip my usual starting spots and try up the Shepaug River arm. I haven't fished that area for a couple years, so we'll see if I can find any. The population in that area is supposed to favor Smallmouth but we'll see.

Thanks PapaJ, oh yeah they do. Sometimes like a bulldog, back into cover or under the boat, and sometimes they think they are a Tarpon, and go airborne multiple times. My personal favorite freshwater fish to catch.

Glad you're heading out. I've got everything loaded up & just waiting for my wife to get home from work. We're headed to western Oklahoma to a 72 acre lake named Dead Warrior Lake. It was formerly Dead Indian Lake. It is in the Cibola National forest so the government changed the name a couple years ago. Whatever the name i've fished it for years & it is a great
lake for LM bass, sauger, crappie, redear & catfish. It's 314 miles from here so we'll drive to the west side of oklahoma city
tonight & hopefully be on the water before 10 tomorrow morning. 75 to 80 degree weather through Monday. Should be great fishing if the wind doesn't get up bad. Hope you have a great weekend Fred & bring home some trophies. Tight lines.

I love catching smallies, that is one fun fish. But have you ever caught a 3 or 4 pound rainbow in a fast moving cold alpine stream? They don't have any endurance, which is a shame, but for as long as they can hold out they will give you all you want. Aerobics and line snapping shakes of the head. They're my favorite.

Can't say I have Spirit, but then we don't have Alpine streams. The closest we have is our rivers after iceout. When the season opens in the spring, all accessible areas are jammed with fly fishermen with all levels of skill. I wouldn't set foot there without a Kevlar vest and a helmet! LOL I only fish for Trout occasionally, and usually in lakes or ponds. I'll stick with the warm water fighters.
