Well had a friend with a sandhill crane permit that had been after them for two weeks. Called last night and asked if I knew where he might find a crane. Told him to meet me 5 am. Took out the decoys and were set up before daybreak. Nothing until about 10 am. They must have fed late last night. In they came and down it went. Fun over - the Benelli slapped that bird and he only took one shot. He had always heard me tell how good eating they were so he took it home😪😪. Its the prime rib of the sky.
Prime rib of the sky... well then I want some. Do you serve it with Horse radish?

Salmonella has been found in very few wild birds including sandhill cranes. If you ever eat commercially grown chicken you have a million times more chance of contracting it. Just saying.

Hope he shares some with you Huntm!! Sounds like he’d have none if you didn’t give him the hookup.

Its all good. When I get the knee done I think a couple of us will head to Texas or Oklahoma next year. Parts of Texas is a 3-bird per day & 3 day possession limit. I think Oklahoma may be the same. Good guy just glad to see him kill.

I haven’t been on here much last few weeks, what happened to your knee?

Lots of Sandhill opportunity in the Oklahoma panhandle. You're right about the larger limit but you know those feds it could change any day. Farmers raise wheat all along the panhandle & those birds are very destructive. Get a bunch
Never hunted them and they’re big too. Good shooting!
