Those that suggested some type of doughball recipe are on target. Many years ago, the custodian at our office was an avid carp fisherman at the sand pits outside of Omaha. He would not give up his "secret recipe", but using cheap Zebco spinning reels and rods, he had great success catching big carp from the sand pits around Fremont and/or Valley, Nb.
He couldn't sell them to Joe Tess, Joe only used river caught carp. Although hard for some to believe, carp sandwiches are quite good.
Check out this site, ol Joes place has been around a long long time and based on selling carp sandwiches.

Millet and Karo syrup with a sweet extract works well. Drill a small hole in a piece of whole kernel corn put it on a hook and pack the millet around it. As the bait falls apart the carp will come and suck up the corn along with the millet
I got a good sized carp in early Spring so the water was nice and cold. I smoked some chunks and then pressure cooked to soften the bones. I also added a little Yukon Jack to the jar when I pressure cooked. They were delicious, nobody would believe they were carp.
Carp made into patties like salmon patties are delicious. The are fun to catch also. They can get big and fight hard.
Well, Hoss, I would be much more interested in catching carp for their fighting ability than eating them Just Sayin...RJS
If you (score) the fillets prior to putting them on the stove, that will resolve and/or pretty much eliminate the bones.
That would mean.....making 45 degree cuts a half inch or so across the fillet one way and then repeating the 45 degree cut in the opposite direction the other way.........Poof...............no bones.

I agree whole kernel corn on the bottom.
RJ— As mom would say try it and if you don’t like it you don’t have to eat the rest. Kinda hungry myself.
I have caught a good amount of carp with homemade doughball. Just use white bread, some sugar and vanilla extract. Wet it a little and make a ball out of it. tear some off, put it on a small treble hook and lay it on the bottom. The great part is you can eat the doughball if you get a little hungry, They really do put up a fight. I have tried smoked carp and it is pretty good. Of course when growing up we did not have a lot so food was food. LOL
We used to fish for carp when I was a kid. It was just about the only fish over a half pound in the creek. IMO you can't go wrong with corn fished on the bottom. Next choice would be dough balls made from Wheaties mixed with molasses and a bit of sweet anise. Never tried it but a Carolina rig with a circle hook might be the ticket. No tension on the line, let the carp suck on it a while before he takes the hook in and the circle hook won't miss when you reel him in.
Sounds like a sure fire way, well almost! Just Sayin...RJS
The best part about fishing is there is really no wrong way. Only 50, 000 ways to do it. Just put something on a hook a throw it out and sit back and wait. Just one man's humble opinion.
Get some Green Giant Nibletts corn. Best bait for carp.
