I believe México is open to Americans....can anyone confirm? If so I’m planning a trip down and will staying as long as they let me. I have an RV. I need some advice on where to go, availability of fishing supplies, diesel fuel, surf fishing and charter suggestions. I fish alone usually. I don’t like tourist traps and I take my fishing seriously but try not to take myself seriously. Good food and local beers are helpful.

Baja? From Alabama? Where will be your starting point? The east or the west? I'm a little familiar with the west coast, down around Ensenada.

A couple of links to fishing in Mexico.

I've fish little down around Rosarita and on down toward Ensenada. Surf perch are plentiful and tasty, they don't get real big and they are lot of fun on light gear. If you want to catch mahi mahi or marlin go all the way down to Cabo. Fishing down there can be fantastic and the pescadores will be happy to put you onto fish.

Well, there you go. Hiway 1 runs almost all the way down to Cabo San Lucas. I've never driven it and don't know anyone who has. Tijuana, Rosarito and Ensenada are all traps for San Diego turistas. You just need to know which places to avoid. If you need some good American company in Ensenada, go to Husong's Cantina. The fishing is good on that stretch of coast. At least it was 25 or so years ago. I don't know anything about south of Ensenada until you get to Cabo. I've lived in NorCal for the last 22 years. Have you ever driven in Mexico? If not you need to be aware of the Federales and their affection for U.S. greenbacks. They will wave you through a red light and then give you a ticket for running it. Or a ticket for ignoring them if you don't. Money makes the ticket go away. They are not well paid, and it shows.

And that's why I don't drive in Mexico, Spirit. And female as well.

I'm sure there are charters out of Ensenada, but I don't know anything about em so could not recommend one. You pays your dollar and you takes your chance. Unless someone else shows up on here.

Maybe look here: https://www.fishipedia.com/destinations/baja-and-pacific-coast-fishing/

Spirit has some good advice there.
I for one wouldn't go down there on a bet, we used to go surfing down there when I was younger. Almost always cost us a twenty for a crooked cop in TJ on the way back.
This was back in the late 60s.
If you do go make sure to buy Mexican auto insurance and have health insurance. Use Google for stories about hospitals only wanting cash and won't let you leave racking up the bill until you pay it.
On a positive note lots of independent small boats down there and great fishing. The boats are called pangas, I think that's how you spell it.
Don't bring a weapon or ammunition unless you want free room and board for a very long time.
Good luck. People go down there all the time with no problems but just be aware it only takes one mishap to ruin everything.
Don't forget a Mexican fishing license and your passport.
