A: In Genesis 1:29 God speaks to Adam, "And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb-bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for food. And to all the beasts of the Earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground--everything that has breath of life in it--I give every green plant for food.
